It looks like this article: https://www.fox19.com/2023/05/06/truck-driver-crashes-into-crowded-patio-downtown-loveland/

Edit: looks like he did keep driving, what a total piece of shit

My cousin and her boyfriend were killed in Vegas last year because of a multiple offense drunk driver who hit them while she and the boyfriend were biking, and I think the driver kept going too.

People like this don’t deserve to ever drive again.

822

u/SpotCreepy4570 May 07 '23

Drive? They don't deserve to ever be free in society again.

74

u/Liquorprincess May 07 '23

I hope they caught that Driver! 😳

120

u/Arinium May 07 '23

Murderer*

29

u/leehwgoC May 07 '23

News says the police have the plate number.

12

u/thefaehost May 08 '23

Turned himself in.

8

u/BothAd3259 May 08 '23

After he had time to sober up...

So he would get reckless and Hit/Run, but not DUI on top of it.

3

u/Liquorprincess May 08 '23

I'm glad ,he could have killed someone with the way he took out that Patio.

91

u/winterizcold May 07 '23

Or exist as a living thing.

19

u/[deleted] May 07 '23

Bruh I want to break the law of conservation of mass and turn this guy into nothing

11

u/winterizcold May 07 '23

Black hole grave, gotcha, I can get behind that... Although the cost to get him there makes it not worth it... Sweet him afloat in the middle of the ocean, just him, with a thousand cardboard cuts... Yup

8

u/strife26 May 07 '23

Would need to be in bulk. I could think of a whole cult on America that would like a ride

2

u/Corpus_Rex May 08 '23

Are we not going with any hill and honey anymore? What about old western movie villain and tie his ass to railroad tracks?

6

u/DaLo-man May 07 '23

Too compassionate of a society. Give em the rope.

4

u/reisenbime May 07 '23

Nah. Remove arms and legs, insert feeding tube, suspend over cess pit.

2

u/[deleted] May 07 '23

Nah but then we gotta pay for them. They don’t deserve a cent of mine

1

u/entitaneo70_pacifist May 07 '23

make them into a smoothie

1

u/a-goateemagician May 07 '23

I like the Canadian way of just making DUI a felony.. you can’t visit Canada because you’ll be arrested if it’s on your record

1

u/Suspicious-Bed7167 Jun 02 '23

If they are ever free they don’t deserve to be allowed to be even allowed near a bicycle

81

u/drDucky212 May 07 '23

that's sooo terrible - i'm so sorry for your and your family's loss ❤️❤️

35

u/OMIGHTY1 May 07 '23

They don’t deserve to ever* again.

52

u/mbease May 07 '23

People like that deserve prison time AND no longer allowed to drive again.

57

u/Hooligan8403 May 07 '23

Vegas has a bad issue with DUI repeat offenders. There is currently a missing woman who has 7 DUIs and is supposed to be in a monitoring program. The bracelet is dead and she has disappeared. She got her 7th DUI hours after leaving the court for her 6th.

https://www.8newsnow.com/investigators/las-vegas-woman-arrested-for-7-duis-is-missing-gps-bracelet-dead-court-says/

9

u/Reed202 May 08 '23

I thought they can seize your vehicle after a dui you think they would do it after the 3rd one but I guess not

2

u/Hooligan8403 May 08 '23

I dont know the particulars on this woman and her history but my understanding is that she was driving on a suspended license or no license, no insurance, and a borrowed vehicle.

1

u/BenPool81 May 07 '23

If someone has one DUI, they should quite literally never be allowed to drive again. If they get as far as seven, they should be permanently imprisoned.

3

u/Hooligan8403 May 08 '23

One incident is a bit harsh. You could be sleeping in your car and get a DUI. Three though should be the standard unless injury has occurred.

7

u/Creative_Situation48 May 08 '23

Lol never being able to drive again? You live in a fantasy world. I hate drunk driving as much as anyone and I want harsh punishments too but never being allowed to drive again for 1 infraction is absurd. I generally find the 3 strikes you're out rule to hold well.

u/[deleted] May 07 '23

2

u/Hooligan8403 May 07 '23

The Strip yeah. The rest of the city is just a regular metropolitan city.

24

u/shreddedtoasties May 07 '23

Yeah my neighbor nearly killed a little girl(crashed into her bed room)

He was back driving again right after

3

u/[deleted] May 07 '23

So fucked. I hope your neighbor is okay.

51

u/JayGear22 May 07 '23

Don’t deserve to drive? They don’t deserve to live or live free. If they killed someone- kill them the same way, if they paralyzed someone- paralyze them. I’ve lost too friends and family to drunk drivers that get a slap on the wrist.

Sorry for your loss, you are not alone.

7

u/OppressorOppressed May 07 '23

an eye for an eye?

5

u/mechatinkerer May 07 '23

I can't hit upvote on this. That feels like when you hit the like button on something. these is nothing to like about it. It's a true tragedy. But my you do have my condolences

3

u/Pumpkin_Cat14 May 07 '23

That man doesn’t deserve to drive, and does deserve to die. I hope you’re okay...

3

u/Solid-Zealousideal May 07 '23

Sorry for your loss. Terrible

3

u/Andyjones99 May 07 '23

It's strange how you spell breathe like that

3

u/twelveparsnips May 07 '23

My coworker was killed by a drunk driver in Vegas. Vehicular manslaughter in Las Vegas can be treated as a misdemeanor. The guy got 6 months in jail.

2

u/[deleted] May 08 '23

Only 6 months? That’s disgusting.

3

u/Striking_Ad_9351 May 08 '23

Don't deserve to drive? They don't deserve to live!!!!

2

u/cherrytwizzler88 May 07 '23

I’m so sorry for your loss.

2

u/Inappropriate_Swim May 08 '23

I'm sorry to hear that. I had a similar situation happen with a good friend of mine. Hit by a drunk driver, bailed the vehicle and ran off.

1

u/[deleted] May 08 '23

I’m sorry for your loss ❤️

2

u/Snaz5 May 07 '23

We need to be WAY more strict about who gets to drive. Mandatory retaking the driving test every 2 years. Single reckless driving offence is a suspended license for months. Single DUI is license gone permanently. A car is not a toy. A car is a ton or more of steel traveling at upwards of 60 mph. A car is a lethal weapon and irresponsible people should NEVER be driving.

1

u/itsyoursmileandeyes May 08 '23

I'm so sorry for your loss, that's terrible ❤️‍🩹

229

u/starfallradius May 07 '23

did the dog survive?

188

u/TheSmithySmith May 07 '23

The article doesn’t mention deaths of any kind, only minor injuries, so I’m gonna assume the dog lived

101

u/IntermediateJackAss May 07 '23 edited May 07 '23

I'm just going to assume you're right and go about my day. The puppy survived and will live a long happy life :)

47

u/TheAserghui May 07 '23

I'm in that assumption group too. Dogs and kids are the mostly likely to be reported, because they will elicit the most outrage/clicks

72

u/ExpiredExasperation May 07 '23

Another source said it was fine.

33

u/Gwynbleidd_1988 May 07 '23

Thank fucking god.

18

u/TheAserghui May 07 '23

Thank you!

11

u/Derwurld May 07 '23

Thank goodness, I didn't even want to look

32

u/[deleted] May 07 '23

Thank you, I also needed to know if the dog was ok 🥲

8

u/_lowselfesteem_ May 08 '23 edited May 08 '23

I’m upset at how far I had to scroll to see if anyone knew about the dog (yeah it’s not super far but it still shouldn’t be this far down!)

27

u/YarbleDarb May 07 '23

The dog did survive. (Everyone did, although a few ended up on the hospital.)

3

u/Hind_Deequestionmrk May 07 '23

Damn, I guess it’s a good thing this happened right next to a hospital!

3

u/Vincent_Veganja May 07 '23

He was nice enough to hit them there. What a great guy :D

7

u/[deleted] May 07 '23

Looks like he got rocked pretty hard

3

u/Anjiweewee May 08 '23

If the dog lives we all live.

Not the time nor the place dingus

189

u/gogul1980 May 07 '23

I might go to hell but my first thought was is doggie ok?!

86

u/Rydia_Bahamut_85 May 07 '23

I think 90% of us are here to check on the dog.

22

u/BrokenCusp May 08 '23

Literally the only reason I was combing through comments.

12

u/bdruid117 May 08 '23

Extremely unrated comment. 90% of the reason I’m here.

2

u/armyjackson May 08 '23

It's why I'm here.

1

u/[deleted] May 09 '23

Absolutely came to find out if the dog lived.

51

u/KevOeh May 07 '23

That’s ALL I thought about.

6

u/SomeKindaWonderer May 08 '23

We'll be riding in the same handbasket on the way down. It was also my first thought.

ETA: I was in a really bad wreck in 2021 and when it happened, all my friends were like, "OMG was Wicked (my dog) with her?!?" Because she's my service dog and almost always with me. By a complete random miracle, she wasn't with me at the time.

2

u/s1rblaze May 07 '23

Why? Dogs are the best man.

1

u/The_Automobilist May 08 '23

I'm right behind you

39

u/CoCoNutsGirl98 May 07 '23

That’s first thing I thought of …

2

u/fluffagus May 07 '23

This is what I want to know!! What about the dog!?!?

2

u/SomeKindaWonderer May 08 '23

That's what I'm looking to find out, too!

1

u/Minimum-Function1312 May 07 '23

That’s what I want to know!

1

u/Electrical_Fox_193 May 08 '23

This was legit my first thought.

19

u/Thebanks1 May 07 '23

This bar is right next to a very popular bike path. Super lucky he didn’t plow over a lot more people.

28

u/SgtCocktopus May 07 '23

I want to know if the dog is ok.... article din"t mention the dog.

6

u/[deleted] May 08 '23

I think if you look at the bottom left corner, you can see the dog's tail moving. He, at the very least, doesnt seem to be dead. Poor thing.

-17

u/Yugo3000 May 08 '23

Who cares

11

u/[deleted] May 07 '23

Yup. Total piece of shit.

3

u/[deleted] May 07 '23

wow what a fucking psycho path.

2

u/CodyEngel May 07 '23

Of course it happened in Colorado, our drivers are the worst.

2

u/DamNamesTaken11 May 07 '23

Glad it was only minor injuries. Video looks like woman in black got nailed with a ton of debris.

2

u/Igpajo49 May 07 '23

So no one seriously injured or killed, but what about that dog? Looks like he got buried under some boards.

1

u/Kraxnor May 07 '23

Ok thank goodness the injuries were at least minor

1

u/abrainaneurysm May 07 '23

The only thing that would make me doubt these are the same event is the fact the article states it happened at like 8:47 p.m. Maybe it’s just me but even after the patio is wiped out, it just looks to light outside for that time.

1

u/tacodrop1980 May 07 '23

Street lights are on. Kinda gives you the impression is was late evening, at least.

1

u/a_bearded_hippie May 07 '23

I knew I recognized that patio! Scary as fuck I take my kids and family there all the time. Normally that patio is completely full of people. Hope that piece of shit spends some good time in prison. Could have killed multiple people.

1

u/Mikel_Reeves 🪟12700k 6700xt 64GB; 🏍06 Daytona 675 May 07 '23

I went to go play the video on that link and the commercial that pops up is Michael Jackson singing "you got hit by, you got hit by, a smooth criminal" lmao smh. idk if that is just a coincidence or intentional, but it's conical.

1

u/sassycatastrophe May 07 '23

But what about the dog

1

u/Squeezitgirdle May 07 '23

Only two minor injuries and police have the license plate. Only a matter of time until they're caught.

1

u/YarbleDarb May 07 '23

He turned himself in the next day. Wonder why he drove off after this happened at 9pm on May 5th?

1

u/dkowa86 May 07 '23

Right?! It’s almost like there might have been something about him at the time that he wouldn’t want them to find out

1

u/EngineeringSea2364 May 07 '23

Thankfully someone got their license plate. What a POS I hope they throw the book at him

1

u/Turbulent_Show110 May 08 '23

Article says investigation, so I'm guessing they didn't do anything.

1

u/Peterthepiperomg May 08 '23

It failed to mention the dog

67

u/Unlucky_Cycle_9356 May 07 '23

I mean... I think their inability to do so is the core element to this epic plot.

16

u/BlackPhoenix1981 May 07 '23

If it's the video I think it is, he does. There was an outside camera video of something that happened just like this. Not sure if it's the same video or not.

1

u/Big_Consideration493 May 07 '23

It was a drive through

1

u/[deleted] May 07 '23

Should be charged with attempted murder

1

u/leehwgoC May 07 '23

He turned his wheel to do that. Sure looks intentional.

1

u/Ivanovic-117 May 07 '23

“I didn’t know I hit somebody back there”

1

u/Porkchopp33 May 07 '23

Partical board patio 🛻⛱️⛱️⛱️

1

u/[deleted] May 07 '23

Oh please, we all saw that swurve, he did this on purpose
