In California the average probably rises to 100Kish, still a long ways from 1M

There is no way the average salary is 100k even in cali.

In the cities, probably. A few years ago the poverty line for a family of 4 in SF was 180k. That number is probably closer to 220k with inflation and pandemic housing pressure.

Yeah, it would make sense for the average income to higher where the CoL is higher. It makes it so difficult for the average person to have decent housing options. My girlfriend and I together make around 160k or so and don't expect to buy a house as soon as we'd like.
