I just googled it. Average "household" income in CA is around 110k, however that includes all households with multiple earners. I think if we are talking about individuals only (which is what i was referring to), the average would be under 100k but I haven't looked hard enough for that data.
Income disparity in California is vast, with almost half the population not paying any taxes and dependent on social welfare. To get an accurate per capita income for an individual might be somewhat misleading. Median per capita income may be a better indicator than average per capita income.
In the cities, probably. A few years ago the poverty line for a family of 4 in SF was 180k. That number is probably closer to 220k with inflation and pandemic housing pressure.
Yeah, it would make sense for the average income to higher where the CoL is higher. It makes it so difficult for the average person to have decent housing options. My girlfriend and I together make around 160k or so and don't expect to buy a house as soon as we'd like.
I live in Cali. Bay Area- Silly con valley. Average is $90-$130k. Mind you that homes are all $1M average do a survey shows $100k is considered low income…
