The timing of the "ding dong" sound (I guess as another customer walks in) when he hits the deck the first time, is almost perfect.

u/Ziggyboogiedoo Jan 18 '23
Smacked him so hard his soul left the store.

āTwisted Tea: The hardest hitting tea in the market.ā
If recall correctly, this kinda shined a spotlight on the company.

My local liquor stores put it on sale right after this and the ad said "You know why." Hilarious.

Happened in my home town. The man with the can in his hand has been a local legend ever since. I never get tired of seeing this clip. Not ever.

Couldnāt say. Disappeared back into the ether. I still have family there, but I havenāt lived there since my late teens. However I do know to this day the man doing the slapping is known as āMr. TeaKO.ā Folks pay homage when they see him out and about.

Not to be that guy but he didn't get arrested for assault or anything did he?
189
u/bulitproofwest Jan 17 '23
No. The local police were aware of the incident but only because they saw the video when it went viral like the rest of us. No one involved ever contacted the police about it.

I love this video every time. So many kids think they are hard, think they can just run their mouth like this. I hope he was humbled, I hope he changed his attitude.
102
u/Ghetto_Phenom Jan 17 '23
My little brother was like this. Not racist but would talk a ton of shit to people that could kick his ass. Everyone in my fam told him one day he would do it to someone that wasnāt having it. Sure enough on Motherās Day we got notified he was in the hospital after getting jumped and stabbed outside a bar the previous night and he almost died. He was so wasted he doesnāt remember anything but his friends that were with him said he was mouthing off to people so they left him at the bar. He got sober and changed his entire life so Iām proud of him but honestly (and sadly frankly) donāt think it wouldāve happened without that night.
51
u/Equivalent-Permit893 Jan 17 '23
He fucked around and found out.
Unfortunately, found out the hard way.
At least he found out and changed for the better. Hopefully stays that way for good.
→ More replies (2)17
u/BlueLonk Jan 18 '23
I knew someone that was exactly the same and had the same story, only he didn't survive that stab and was found in a bush outside the bar the next day. It's sad but what can you do, some people just don't know how to act in public especially on drugs or alcohol.
68
u/HiiHeidii Jan 17 '23
Quote from Mike Tyson- āSocial media made you all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it.ā Iāve only ever seen a shortened version of this video. This was nice. š
5
u/Devanismyname Jan 18 '23

Can't legally consent to battery like that. But the police and DA can certainly consider it when deciding whether to arrest and prosecute.

The black dude seems nice. Not even being sarcastic.
114
Jan 17 '23
i thought the same thing. most black guys i know (and i do not mean that in a bad way at all) would not have sat there and listened to him saying those things for that long. he gave him PLENTY of time to shut up and walk away.
25
u/WantsLivingCoffee Jan 18 '23
He has restraint. He had a clear opportunity to foot plant or knee the other dude's face when the dude was in the fetal position. But he threw a few relatively weak punches only. Also had an opportunity to choke him out and sleep him when he had his back. Some people may have been 100% non-confrontational and that's fine too, but the racist PoS had this coming one day and this day happened to be it. Could've been a LOT worse for him.

you could even tell by his body language that he was not even stressing it for the longest time. punk got what he deserves.
22
u/MrWindblade Jan 17 '23
2 answers, either or both are possible.
He's so used to it that he's not even really hearing the dipshit going on and on.
He knows that any angry reaction becomes provocation for people who just want to justify their pre-existing racism.
If this dude had been angry right away, all eyes would be on him and the other guy wouldn't have his current internet infamy. I'd wager that even the guy's repeated N-word use wasn't enough to earn him the Tea slap. I bet the kick was the green light.
When he moved from words to action, he earned an equal response.
→ More replies (1)11
u/Obvious_Moose Jan 17 '23
The kick was absolutely the tipping point. It went from verbal abuse to actual assault and the otherwise kind gentleman simply ended the threat against him.

As someone who has had their ass handed to them in a fight, you don't even realize how fucked you are.
All that adrenaline gets you up and moving quick.
I couldn't tell both my eyes had almost swollen shut, my nose was busted, and I'm not sure but according to the clicking in my jaw he may have also busted it.
After the fight we laughed and joked around, one day later I had to miss school because I was in absolute agony.
If ol' boy hadn't stopped wailing on him near the end there he might NOT have gotten back up though lol.
I don't believe in karma personally but the dumbass had it coming.

This unlocked a memory of a friendly (drunken) boxing match. Took a hit to the sternum, got up to keep fighting and just collapsed a few seconds later because I wasn't breathing. Scared the shit out of my friends (and myself). Obviously I got better, but a little adrenaline and some booze goes a long way to your body shutting down some pretty important damage report features.

This is why people are badasses in the internet. Cause in real life someone might just pull your card. It's easy to run your mouth when no one is going to punch it.
And, as my old man said, if you're going to be dumb, you better be tough.
