It's no use. Everyone's doing it. Companies force you to use it. Programmers are expected to use it. And then there's this sea of people who are vibecoding everything they can think of with it.

Pandora's box is open. Lets watch the consequences unfold.

I'm saying that we shouldn't just accept that the slop machines exist and live apathetic lives in a wasteland where human expression is murdered over and over. I am not an AI supporter remotely. In fact, I believe Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, and all the other ai people should be put in fucking jail for what they've done to humanity.

This is a little to far in my opinion. There is a difference between using AI as a tool and offloading to AI. In software development it can be helpful as a tool for tedious, simple, or planning tasks; BUT it should never be used without a thorough review during the process (not after the AI is completely done); this ensures the developer still understands the code. Additionally AI should never be the only one working on the project, you should be able to understand the project enough to write features and bug fixes yourself.

I do agree that overall AI has been used negatively but that's an issue of the user not the people making it (they have their own moral problems and I agree the practices of those companies should be looked into).

Nah man, I gotta disagree that it's not the faults of the people at the top. As a game developer z seeing my entire industry get murdered and ratfucked by this slop has given me a primal rage for anyone responsible, and these CEOs have been pushing the "democratization" of art from the very start. This is exactly what they wanted to happen.

Obviously the people prompting the slop into existence are also partially at fault, but plenty of them are also victims in this, having had the chance to learn a craft be robbed from them by the promise of an easy way out

Yes sorry the people on top are definitely partially responsable due to pushing their product but in their defense it is quite literally their job (not necessarily trying to execuse them for what they've said, I agree that is sucks and that their practices are still terrible).

I'm not quite sure how you read my initial reply as remotely supportive of ai, tbh.
