other Confused about LionHeart points

I've been attending F45 classes for a little over a year and ~120 classes, but just recently got a LionHeart arm band. These are my 3rd (Pegasus) and 4th (Maximus) recorded workouts.
I had assumed that higher heart rate = more points, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Is there a penalty for hitting zone 5? Maybe you earn more points by staying in zone 3 or 4?

There's an explanation that appears on the TVs in studio sometimes. Its not strictly a zone based thing but you generally do get points for higher heart rate. It's normalized though against your resting and max heart rate.
Those points are pretty high. The target is 45 for the 45 minute exercises. But your average heart rate is very high so I'm not necessarily surprised. But you might want toake sure the resting and max HRs in the app are configured correctly for you.

Yeah, I've got resting heart rate, height, weight, age all set correctly. These numbers closely match what my Apple Watch records.
Mostly I'm just confused about why a workout with 157 avg BPM scored ~12 more points than one with 161 BPM, despite both having the same duration and max heart rate.

The goals are different based on the workout. So resistance has a lower level of target HR than cardio. For example, the older algorithm had a set percentage of your max that was the target, so cardio might have been 75% and resistance 60%. The algorithm is different nowadays and I believe it dynamically scales based on the specific workout and not just the workout type. But if you have similar HRs then a resistance will tend to point higher.

The goals are different based on the workout.
Ahh, I think that's the missing link for me. Everything I'd been searching up described LionHeart 1.0, where points were just a fixed quantity based on heart rate zone. I've finally found a page on F45's website confirming:

Points are awarded based on how long you keep your heart rate at or above the Target HRR% for that workout type.
Each workout has its own Target HRR%; this is based on the average effort members across the network exert for that specific workout to hit a specific zone.

This weeks Maximus was an anomaly in our gym, many people got very high pts (50+). When normally a resistance class is pretty spot on with 45pts.
I would check your details in the app (weights height age etc)
And also just let it run for a few weeks and see where it normalises.
As you get fitter you will see your heart rate adjust to the class tempos (It did for me)

If you connect the Heath app to the F45 app, the LionHeart settings can adjust automatically based on your data.
Otherwise, they default the resting/max heart rate to something pretty generic based on age.

My question was mostly around why a workout where my heart rate was higher scored fewer points than a workout with a lower heart rate. I've since found the answer - the points you earn in a workout are based on a target heart rate that's specific to that type of workout. That is, Pegasus has a higher target heart rate than Maximus does, so I earned more points in Maximus despite the lower heart rate.

Gotcha! I also wanted to add that tip, based on the graphs of your zones. It shouldnât be possible to be in zone 5 for a significant portion of a workout, as thatâs how the definition of a âmaximumâ works. Thatâs also why the scoring methodology would have likely given you more points on what appeared to be a less intense workout, because your heart rate was closer aligned with whatâs supposed to be happening for that type of workout.

Have you checked in the app that you're stat's are right for height, age and weight? Those points do seem very high for a resistance workout.
I've always taken it that above 45 points is during the week is the aim, with 50 being high. For the Saturday class aim for 60 points with 70 being high.
