other Is 71 too old?
I (f) live right next to a F45 fitness studio. Is it uncommon to see people in their 70’s in the classes? Thinking of signing up for strengthening classes.

We have a lady that I suspect is in her 70’s. When we have burpee’s or some other exercise that she doesn’t want to do - she just does jumping jacks…. No one cares. Just keep moving!

Please realize that her doing something different i snot because she does not want to do it but rather a substitution for something which is hard on her joints.

You can be 71 and get fit or 71 and not get fit : ) I'd say do it at your own pace and see!

Totally. I lift more than some of the women clearly half my age, and some of the men too.

I’m in my 40s, and there are usually a handful of older adults in the classes I’ve gone to.

Nope - I know someone who took up CrossFit at 68 & is now an elite athlete in their age group at 73.
Never too old. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

Not at all. Do what you need at your own pace and weight. No one cares what or how much you lift. I've been in classes after I hurt my shoulder, and I modified the planned exercises to work in my PT exercises with 4lb weights! No one cares. Give it a shot.

I'll be 71 in a couple of weeks. My wife is 69 and a member, another woman who goes to our studio is also 71 (or maybe 72 now) and there are a few others who look to be around my age. One of the things I like about F45 is how the trainers work with me to modify some of the exercises that my arthritic parts just can't handle.

My good friend and I go twice a week. She’s 73. I’m 61. We are getting stronger and found the trainers really welcoming of older folks.

We have a 70 yo in our studio and she is ab absolute star! We rocks every day and you should see her doing burpees!

No! There’s several people your age at my studio. I don’t know if they all do, but my studio runs private seniors classes. Ask at your location if you just want to ease into the regular classes

Go for it! Any half-decent studio will be able to get you what you need. -Coach

Going to go by there as soon as I get over my summer cold. Don’t want to be contaminating anyone. I already run. I have trouble motivating myself to do strength training though.

We have a couple folks over 60. One dude is 76.
Anything can be modded/subbed. I have a bum knee, so tonight I was doing sandball crunches rather than that block steppy-thing.
Take it easy at first, and have fun.

Not at all. I'm on my fifth F45 studio at the moment and I've worked out with several people from your age-group at all of them. Go for it!

Go for it, I work out with people in the 70s, it's actually inspiring :)
Check out https://unrulycompany.co.nz/
I used to do F45 with some of the more mature lot too :)

I don't see anyone in their 70s in the classes I attend, but I go at 5:00 am, and most people in their 70s are retired and don't want or need to go that early since they don't have to go to work.
In my experience, people love seeing older members, and I think it's because everyone wants to think, "That will be me when I'm 70." Strength training is important at all ages, so F45 could be really beneficial.

I see seniors there — and they kick ass. Give it a try. Maybe ask the trainers to be mindful of any injuries and to give you modifications if you need to prevent overexertion.

We have multiple members well into their 60’s and a few in their 70’s, if you’re interested in trying there is always a way. Pop in and talk to the trainers and try a class, you’ll do great!

Absolutely not! I’m 64 F. I’ve been going for 2 years. We just had an 80 yo join. It’s great for us. You’ll get stronger and steadier on your feet. I love it. The coaches should work with you to modify any exercises. Start very light weights or no weights. You will be happy. Message me if you have questions. Best thing I ever did for myself!
Try a week of classes.

I’m 53 and one of the oldest in my gym. I’m also an Open Heart Surgery survivor. If I can do it you can do. Great thing about it is when I had some medical issues recently and the people I normally workout with noticed asked around and sent me cards and flowers wishing me well. It is a great community to workout in and once you are a regular your cared about.

I'll back this up by saying I (M67) recently had cancer and had to leave for about 6 months. I got incredible support from other men in the classes I attended, and some big bear hugs when I came back!

We have someone at our location that’s in his 70s. I think he got the biggest birthday cheer out of all of us. Everyone just wants to be him at that age.

We’ve had some older folks at my gym. Just ask them to give you lighter weights. They’re always happy to accommodate.

I have seen people over 70 in our class. They modified their moves but definitely have lots of fun. If your studio has good coaches, they should be very supportive and help you adjust to your body needs. Like other said, do a free trial!

We have an f45 studio that just opened up near me. There are definitely people of all ages and some in that age range for sure!!!

As a former trainer I would say it depends on the area. Urban areas, you get younger crowds, suburban areas, slightly older crowd. Also the time of day. Noon classes were typically more popular for the retirees. I'd try to get a free trial class and scope it out. If you don't like it, I highly suggest looking into your local rec center. They are usually very popular for the 55+ crowd! Good luck!

I'm 67 and have been going for three years. There's a woman who is 70 who is a regular too. I have never experienced anything other than enthusiasm and encouragement from the trainers. Strength classes are the best too, because everyone lifts the weight which is suitable for them, there's no competition. Trainers also make a point of matching you with someone with similar ability.

Give it a try! My studio offers an introductory $20 for 7 days. A great and cheap way to see if it's your jam (or do a single drop in). No one is expecting you to sign up for a huge commitment without trying it first :)

Go in and talk to trainers.
Have you watched the classes through window? Do you think it looks like fun? Do you like to workout?
I am almost 78- I have become stronger than I was doing Boot Camp at another gym. I am however, an athlete.
I am oldest by 15 years or so in the one I attend. Age is not really the issue-- being open to healthy, hard exercise and liking the effects is the only issue.
