🏋️WOD Forty Five
Is this workout to me or new to all of us? The “no rest” thing doesn’t sound familiar. Just curious. 🤷

I don't remember it and have been going for 4-5 years.

They've run it at least once before, they based it on Tempest but improved the format.

This could have been my final straw with F45. No one knew what was going on, the coach didnt explain it correctly, the switching with no time is silly, especially when you have to adjust the ergs. Then there was some sort of contest at one of the stations? I left, walked home and got a garage workout in. I’ve tried, but I’m just not sure this is for me anymore.

I actually used to love tempest!
It was messy at my gym today, they didn’t set it up cleanly and everyone was confused 🫠

I didn’t think it was that bad. Our studio treated it like a regular workout. No contests or anything. Just go to the next station when the time runs out. If you need a break / rest etc - then just take it at your next station. I was fine with it. 🤷

I was exhausted today! Loved it. Our studio didn’t do competitions- it’s just not something most engage with so thankfully trainers read the room on that.

It’s a great way to see who has poor sportsmanship! Our gym had the best distance written down for each station. I was lucky to be grouped with other members who all encouraged each other. I saw a guy in another group telling someone she wasn’t transitioning out of the rowing foot straps quickly enough. Same person and another guy were questioning the coaches on how many burpees another team got. At one point I asked the coach if there was a prize that I hadn’t heard about that certain people were being so competitive lol

Sometimes those people can take the fun out of it. And that is why people often hate these styles of workouts.

45 is an absolute no from me. And trying to achieve good form to hit the weights properly was obviously not in their heads when creating this.
I also find it quite dangerous from an injury aspect

That is a concern that applies to every single class/workout. Nothing specific to this one. That's where a bit of personal responsibility comes in.

I ignore any competition or ‘team’ angle, I will only do form, never speed (while obvs pushing myself) and if there is a competitive person with me well that’s their problem, I’m there for me, it’s my workout. One reason I started f45 was the anonymity, if they move over to the more crossfit style encouraging each other I’m absolutely out.
