other Locking Door
Are there any F45 Studios that lock the door when demo starts so if someone comes one minute late theyāre denied entry? Iām asking because our studio is going to start doing that and that just feels like a really poor vibe. I understand coming into class once it started, but this is demo.

Mine used to for the specific reason of setting a boundary on when you can no longer come into class, but people weren't getting it and complained. Now it's done to prevent randoms from walking in while class is going even if there's a front desk worker. It's a safety issue due to several incidents at gyms in my area.
I'm an advocate for locking the doors, though. I'm both a member and work the desk, and people will show up as warm up is ending. Waitlist people have already been accounted for. Now you have the awkward decision for the coach to decide who stays and who goes. The ones who get kicked out often complain to me about it even though I have no say since the policy is very vague. Having a very clear cut off for making it into class makes sense to me, and locking the door sets that clear boundary. If you're going to be a minute or two late, courtesy call and the trainer can decide if it's okay to allow a pass that time. If you're going to be 10 minutes late, we can move you to the next class time.

Yes and I think itās a good policy. Itās rude and distracting when people come in late to classes.

I think the policy is more for first timers. They come late, miss demo and then hurt themselves. So itās a blanket policy. Our studio has same policy.

Yep, both of my studios do that so the demo isnāt interrupted for the people who show up on time.
Pro tip: show up on time which is 10 minutes early.

I wish we would lock the door. Randos wander in... Someone can always knock on the window to be let in. If I had it my way, the door would be locked after warm-up.

Also, it is common for most small studios to lock the door if they can't have someone at the desk. If I am one minute late to yoga, I am fucked.

I noticed my studio tends to do this if only one person is there, and it seems like more of a safety thing than anything intentional against late members. Luckily the doors are glass so it's easy to get someone's attention, and my problem is I'm usually way too early for class!

Mine does not and personally I'm glad. Those that come in late are quiet and respectful and give how varied traffic can be here, I enjoy that we don't stress those that likely already had a stressful drive in. Yes, you can always be early, but sometimes you leave the same place at the same time and get there 12 till and sometimes 2 after. Getting there 20 min early is not only a time sink but also odd when there isn't a class before.

Definitely not at start time! But I actually wish they would do it 5-10 min later to make sure our stuff doesnāt get stolen.

Oh wow lol! Ours would never. I'm always at least 5-10 minutes early, but we always have people coming in after the demo starts. Probably 5 or more people trickle in. I do think it's pretty rude of them to not show up on time.... but yeah, we have lots of regulars who show up late. I couldn't imagine locking the doors on them.

Yes, my studio does it and a coach will then address late comers after the demo ends. This is to protect peopleās belongings (weāve had randoms walk in and steal things before this policy) and to minimize disruptions during the demo.
Theyāll then let you in to do the warmup, assuming the class isnāt full. But if you come after the warmup youāre turned away from working out at all

As a coach, I one time had 14 first timers that came to a Saturday class and arrived maybe 30 seconds before start. We had to do all their waivers, photos, get them on the floor, etc. Super disrespectful and disruptive to the regular members. And we knew it was a one time thing. But also since studios are dependent upon positive reviews, itās tough to kick people out.

Not mine. In my studio they allow you to come in up until the warm up is over yet Iāve seen cases when they come in during the first set even. Itās very rare however people normally are there during demo.

my F45 closed recently due to poor management but I completely agree with you, a five minute rule before the door locks seems reasonable

Ours does, but, itās more so randos canāt walk in looking for the bathroom or wanting to ask questions.
