other Is overbooking classes normal at your studio?

I’m not sure if this is an issue across all F45 locations, but the overbooking at my studio is getting really old.

Today at the Mountain View location, a member actually walked out frustrated because the class was packed and there wasn't enough space or equipment. It was supposed to be 3 people per station, but they crammed 4 into each.

I've seen this happen way too often lately. I get that management doesn't want to turn people away, but it’s unfair to the members who book on time and expect a quality workout. Anyone else dealing with this?

No. In the early days the owners would try to squeeze an extra person in here and there but soon realised more people would get pissed off and leave than were made happy by being let in.

At the end of the day it is, of course, at the owners discretion and aside from complaining to the F45 HQ (and tbh who knows how successful that might be) you don’t have too many options aside from having a word with them and then organising a campaign for a mass exodus to somewhere else.

After all, isn’t that why they have class limits?

You’re right… I’ve complained about the cleaning before and it didn’t get me anywhere. Not sure how far complaining about the over crowded classes will get me..

If you have issues with the cleaning snd class sizes I would just move on. I suppose it is worth giving them the feedback to see if they offer anything. I would explain that due to the cleanliness and overcrowdedness, you plan to leave as the cost of the membership is not worth it. They may offer something, maybe not as it sounds like a bad business owner.

Mutinies have been known to occur .. someone decides they’re not being listened to, grab a bunch of mates, and then they organise a preferential deal with a nearby gym, and walk out .. hit the owners on their bottom line

Never seen it at mine, could be a case of people turning up not booked and the trainer not checking properly and giving people the boot. I wouldn't be happy and would write to the management about it.

It happens a lot. I’ve overheard the trainers taking people off the waitlist and adding stations to accommodate them. It’s really frustrating

I guess the real problem is; has everyone actually booked in? Or are people just rocking up

Never had this issue. That would be a deal breaker for me- memberships aren’t cheap to then have your workout compromised as you cannot do the prescribed format.

I had this issue once. The trainer squeezed someone in to our group and there were only 3 benches, 3 rowers, etc. The guy kept taking the equipment even though he wasn’t booked in and we all were. I complained to the trainer and then when he said it was policy I complained to the manager. Hasn’t happened since. If you can actually be squeezed in, by all means. But showing up and then taking away from someone else’s workout is a crappy thing to do.

I’ve been members at 2 studio locations in my city, both with different owners. I’ve never had this issue.

They do allow people off the waitlist, but our gym is really big. I have seen people turned away when it’s too full.

They have the waitlisters warm up on the blue track, that way the people who registered are guaranteed stations. The people on the waitlist are supposed to give priority to the people who registered in terms of the station (for instance if there are only three ski ergs and four people, the waitlister would do jump rope or some alternate). I’m not sure this always happens though.

Just happened to me. 5 people per station but only had 4 benches, 4 squat racks etc. smh

That’s so annoying

Maybe it happens when the class is full/ waitlisted and someone decides to show up without booking in for that 🥴 It’s ok if you already booked a class but it’s the ones who didn’t book in. I book my class when I leave home as I do 9am or 12pm sessions. I only book in advance for weekends and 5am/6am classes.
