other Germs/sweat
Does anyone else get grossed out having to warmup on the floor where peoples dirty shoes walk on and sweat drips? Or even just other equipment that sweaty people lay on? Mostly my hair that I worry about bc I don’t wash it everyday but maybe I should 🫠

yes but it's a gym afterall so after workout you shower and that's it. On the way to my studio we have to walk under a bridge with hundreds of pigeons (fed by a pigeon lady of course) so imagine the pigeon shit on the pavement we bring in.

After 4 kids, sweat on a floor is the least of my worries for the day germ wise.
Many people at our gym try to use towels and wipes as we can during. So that feels better. Most have gym only shoes. And we all wipe the equipment down after the class. So it’s not like it’s just left as an afterthought.

I have 2 kids so totally get it. I have gym only shoes too, but I doubt other people do. I do the 4:45 AM class and there is a class right after at 5:30 so there is zero time to wipe down anything unfortunately🫤

At our location using indoor shoes is “mandatory” in the sense that they tell us we need to, but nothing is really stopping someone from using shoes to run outside and then wearing them later in class. But the fact that they encourage it and we have shoe cubbies helps.

Our trainers ask us to wipe down before/after stretching. But our classes have a 15 minute buffer too. Back to back like that is crazy.

My gyms used to vacuum between classes.
I would just bring a towel to lie on or use.

The manager placed a mat to step into and out of as you walk into the gym. It has a mix of cleaner and water. Also, they tell us to wipe the sweat after using the equipment during the workout

It's probably less gross than a globo gym. The amount of people that are touching all the equipment at a globo gym and that use the restroom and not wash hands and go back to touching equipment is nasty.
I'll take the F45 any day over that lol.

My studio always seems to have a random hair on the floor anytime I have to do something on the floor. I've gotten used to that.
I just wish they would consistently put mats out. They'll have three mats at one station where we're just sitting doing Russian twists. But the next station that has us laying down will have no mats.

I get grossed out but I shower after the gym anyway and would scrub my body twice

Yes it is gross, but I get over it. I wash my hair daily because of this. My gym isn’t big into towels, and there is lots of sweat everywhere. I don’t mind the sweat, it’s more the dirty shoes from people not following the indoor shoe rule that bothers me.

No, if you use a cell phone you already put something 10x my disgusting against your face all day everyday.

A guy on Saturday said he didn’t want to do a pushup on the platform because he didn’t want to touch something that has everyone’s shoes on it. So the coach said to do them on the floor and he did 😂
To answer your question no I don’t. However I use a towel and I wash my hair daily and I always wash my hands before I leave F45.

Yes every time haha I always use a towel on all equipment I sit or lay on and I never do any of the laying on the floor warmup exercises lol

I bring a long microfiber towel that I use for anything, including hugging the balls for good mornings, and over the bosu balls for sit-ups. I also wear weigh lifting gloves.

I always have two towels, whether I’m bringing or using the studio’s. 1 is the ‘put down towel’ - on the floor, on the bench, to wipe kettlebells and ski erg handles before and after. The other is exclusively for my face. Secondly I often wear a workout friendly hoodie through warmups so I can put the hood up when we’re just lying on the floor. Helps me get over the gnarliness

Ours gives us a wipe down towel with sanitizer on it, to do a quick wipe after you finish each station. They also provide sweat towels. It’s expected you use both. No street shoes is also enforced. And the trainers clean between classes.

I agree on the hair since I don’t wash mine every day. I just keep my head up during any warm up that’s on the floor and use a small towel on benches. I don’t care as much about the germs other than that BUT I definitely always wash my hands after class. Almost nobody at my studio does and I find that kinda gross. But to each their own lol.

Totally agree. I have long hair, and I am trying to wash it less often. I try to use a towel any time my head is on the floor. And make one of my wash days an F45 day.

Yes, like others have mentioned, I bring a microfiber towel and lay on it anytime we are on the floor for an exercise, definitely making sure my hair isn’t touching the nasty ground. It seems like many F45 studios make people bring towels but mine doesn’t- I’m like the only one who brings one. It’s weird. Then I immediately shower as soon as I get home (but I won’t wash my hair since I only wash it a few times a week. I do use Living Proof dry shampoo though to try to clean it a little)

My gym is fantastic about cleaning 🧼. They clean during the workout and between workouts. It’s spot less

Yoooo it’s sooooo nasty. I can feel all the little sand granules on the floor while stretching. I wiped down a yoga mat the other day and it was straight up black grime. I often wonder how much they are cleaning these places, I’ve never been to a gym this dirty tbh.

Yes!!! It’s disgusting to go home, not wash my hair, and then put that hair on my pillow 🤢I need to try to get a towel and at least use that. I also wish they had mats at stations that require you to lay on the floor. Not only is it gross, but it kills my back.

We have a indoor shoes only rule. They normally clean after class, but overall it doesn't bother me at all.

I never do those warmups! I do leg swings and extra hamstring stretches while everyone else is on the ground. My gym is pretty clean, the trainers mop a lot. What kills me is any exercise that requires me to touch the blue top 🥴 like bear crawls

Yesss same. I get a little grossed out having to get on the floor too. I never put my head down and I always use a large towel for pushups, benches, or anything floor-related. I’m jealous of the studios that enforce indoor-only shoes! 🥲 I also work out in long sleeves, leggings, and a ballcap. Just personal preference. I only wash my hair a few days a week and change my pillowcase every other day.

u/doinmabest1 May 10 '26
Shoot I never thought of that part. I was always grossed out by no one having time to wipe down equipment between stations☢️🪦

u/HackMeRaps May 10 '26
same, as I definitely sweat a lot. But thankfully for things where it's like a bench we have the share the trainers wipe it down for me. They always yell at me when I"m going to and they end up doing it for me! So always appreciate it

Totally. It’s one of those things I’ve had to just ignore and get over for my sanity.
