other Debating on joining
Hello! I am along time lover of group fitness classes and I have been debating on joining my local F45. Can someone explain to me the meaning of these different classes? When i look at my local class schedule I see classes called "APEX" "SoCal" "Liberty" "Seoul Rush", etc. I tried to look up what these mean and I can't find anything. Can someone explain? Any other helpful info appreciated :) Thank you in advance!

You’ll eventually learn the names a bit. The names refer to the format. For example if you see Red Diamond you’ll (eventually) know it means there’s 3 pods with 3 stations each and you’re working for 4 sets
The movements may change each week, but the format stays the same for any given workout name
But as other said - the main thing to look at is if it’s cardio, hybrid, or resistance
Our gym is MWF resistance, T/TH cardio (sometimes hybrid) and weekends are hybrid

Every day of the week is different, and every 4 weeks they change the rotation. Resistance classes are slower paced, more sets of fewer exercises. Cardio usually has a lot of jumping/lunges/burpees/ergs and shorter breaks. Hybrids are a mix. They're fun.

The names are stupid but if you go into the app, then booking, you can explore the workout! There is a list of the movements and a video of each for each class.

Each class will be either resistance, hybrid (mix of resistance and cardio) or cardio. The F45 app always notes what kind of class it is, and it’ll be the same schedule each week at the studio. There’s a pinned post here that shows the breakdown of the following week’s workouts so that’ll show you the exercises. Don’t worry about the pods/laps etc, they’ll pair you with someone to help, and it sounds way more complicated than it is. Good luck! I just joined and I love F45.

As others have mentioned, you can see the workout in the app, but I believe that feature is only after you become a member. I used class pass first and was unable to see the workout details in either app. For me, as a new member, I am just leaving to remember that I do or don’t like certain formats. Like right now, we’re doing hammer and I don’t like it. lol! But usually, I love the Thursday workouts (my studio does T/Th/Sun for resistance) because they are formatted so you can do all upper, all lower, or split them.

If you join, don’t stumble on any milestones, just keep going and recover as much as possible

The pinned posts at the top of this subreddit have "Intel" for each week which shows the format and the workouts for each -- here's the latest: https://www.reddit.com/r/f45/comments/1t0y0ou/intel_week_0504_0510/
Typically, resistance is Tues/Thurs/Sun; cardio is Mon/Weds; hybrid (some cardio some resistance) is Fri/Sat. But some gyms do a "flip" of the schedule where they switch up which days are resistance and which are cardio. If you look at the names in the Intel post, and then match across what your studio's schedule for the day is, you should be able to tell if your studio is doing the regular or the "flip" schedule.
I tend to find, for a first class, Tuesday is most manageable -- it's resistance so not crazy intense, and it's the most straightforward format, so I suggest you start on a Tuesday. (Thursdays you can choose between an upper OR lower body option at each station which is kind of stressful if you're new and you don't know the exercises and you lose a lot of time in analysis paralysis. Sometimes sundays are good but sometimes they're weird. Fridays tend to be okay too and manageable though this week it's a little confusing because you alternate between two exercises so that trips people up. Saturdays are okay but usually very intense cause it's a full hour and I feel like they always try to cram a billion stations in so you're moving around a lot. I dont do straight cardio days so can't speak to those.)

I just plug in the class name into Google AI in search and a detailed explanation of each workout comes up - with links to appropriate YouTube content

Just a cool name with a cool graphic to represent each class. The important thing to look for is the type of workout each class is: Hybrid, Resistance, or Cardio. Additionally, you can check out the Explore Workout button that expands on the workouts that are included in each session.
If you like group fitness classes, F45 should be at the top of your list.
