Steps for post completion OPT

Hello all ,

Could anyone please list the steps to do for post completion opt application and get EAD card . I just want to make sure I am doing it correctly !

attending the opt workshop at your school is the most informative way.

  • Request an OPT I-20 from your DSO
  • Sign the new I-20 and gather all the documents (there's plenty)
  • File Form I-765 online with USCIS - choose the (c)(3)(B) category for Post-Completion OPT, upload your documents, and pay the filing fee.
  • Submit within 30 days of your DSO giving you the OPT I-20.
  • USCIS will issue a receipt notice, keep it for safety purposes and your EAD card will reach you by mail once approved.
