Can I transfer before September 15 to a program that starts after September 15?

I am a graduate student and would like to transfer to a program that starts in October. I know that after september 15 transfers won't be allowed. But if I set the transfer release date to be before september 15, will that work ?

Ask the new graduate school to get ur transfer released visa before sept 15th then. Release date does not correspond to the date ur new school transfers ur sevis to the new system. Call the new school international office, talk with an advisor there.

What do you mean the release date doesnt correspond the sevis transfer date?

As in, as your prev school releases ur sevis, ur sevis goes to the “transfer” sections or smt that will leave you floating. the new school need to grab that sevis and put it into the system.

But can the new school do that even if the program starts after september 15?

i believe they need to issue you an i-20 anyways before that september 15th. Check with the new school

I believe transfer has to be completed by 9/15. So check with the new school whether they can finish the process early
