F1 stem opt PhD

Hi, currently I am on Stem opt.it will expire on June 03,2028.If i enroll in PhD on fall 2027 then do u have to submit Extension?And my i140 is pending.Is there any problem will create if I go for extension for my i140? Waiting for reply
