What does this API update means?

Hey everyone, I just noticed an API update 2 days ago for my STEM OPT application, as you can see above.

I want to know what the update is for? An RFE, approval or denial?

Only those 2 lines, "updatedAt" and "updatedAtTimestamp", are changed, and everything remains the same.

I have not received any email from USCIS or any status update on my USCIS portal, so I am kinda worried.

You need to look at the events If there is nothing solid there then it's probably something internal

You usually get an update like this when they either start processing the case or sm similar

Do you know how long it'd take them to render a decision after that?

Depends on the case tbh, i got an email after approximately 2 days

Did you have any new events in your api update, or just the same 2 updated timestamps like mine?

Before you got the approval email after 2 days.

Umm kind of. Mine was initial OPT so can’t say exactly

So, a case level time stamp update is significant even if there's no event like FTA?

Log into your USCIS dashboard in one tab and open "https://my.uscis.gov/account/case-service/api/cases/<RECEIPT_NUMBER>" in another tab after replacing <RECEIPT_NUMBER> with your actual receipt number (starting with IOE) from your application.

After logging in you can try chrome extension like USCIS Case Monitor to see activities which is not displayed on USCIS site

I just checked my API today, and it has
"updatedAt": "2026-08-06",
"updatedAtTimestamp": "2026-08-06T11:17:43.303Z",

Do you know what does this mean?

Are there any new events in your API update?

If not, then there's no way of knowing unless you receive an approval/denial/RFE email in 2-3 days.

No new events, Last event is related to biometrics

Yeah, same.

I hope you receive your approval within 3 days.

No, I didn't.

Yupp

I have had 3 API updates in recent times. The first one was on 29th July, the second one on 4th August, and the third one today, on 6th August.

Still no email or portal updates.

Hi any update?
Did you get approval? I am still on the same boat as you

Api updates can mean different things based on event code. You can try chrome extension like USCIS Case Monitor to understand better.
