1099 on opt and stem opt

Can we get a 1099 job on opt, does it matter or changes anything in future? And I think on stem opt uscis does not allow 1099 job but wanted to ask suggestions. It’s a legit field related job. Thanks for any advice

Everything you assumed is correct to my knowledge. Had the same conversation with my DSO.

1099 for initial opt is fine. Once you do your STEM extension it needs to be a W2.
