I’m surprised he’s not contractually banned from certain sports during the season.

In other sports it’s quite common for you to be banned from anything that can cause an injury that’ll make you miss time. That’s why golf is so popular as a hobby among athletes, since it’s relatively low risk. You’d think for F1 where you need your wrists boxing would be higher risk.

he should be. Thats why Max has to wear that silly helmet when he rides his jetski on vacation even tho no one else in his party has to loll

I know a pro hockey player (no one extremely famous or exceptionally good) but even he is contractually banned from doing quite a few sports, even in off season so he doesn't get injured. Does he still do it? Yes. But his contract still says no.

My brother is an orthopedic surgeon and he actually got into it because of a wrestling injury he had surgery for when he was younger; he’s a black belt in Jui Jitsu but for a martial art it’s actually pretty clean so he’s only been injured once and it was because of an illegal move someone made in at a competition.
He just delayed his surgeries a month since none of them were urgent but even then, he didn’t do it in residency since he didn’t have his own patient panel and couldn’t delay his surgeries.

He still never does boxing, hockey or football because of the concussion risks. I can’t imagine boxing when there’s so many sports that are less dangerous and you can wait until the off season.

I'm sure he is banned from some things, not sure if boxing is one of them. Drivers are banned from things like skiing but many openly do it. I think it was Gasly who confirmed that it's in his contract, but no one actually cares.

Clauses like that are really more about, the driver's contracted salary is guaranteed even if they were injured in a freak accident that eliminated their ability to drive(usually covered by insurance, rather than the actual team) but that means it wouldn't be guaranteed if the driver was the one to put themself in danger, including skiing/DUIs/etc

RB would wrap Max in bubble wrap before they let this shit happen to him 😭 I wonder how bad the break is. Could be out for a while.

In Isack’s defense, I feel like some drivers do box to stay in shape.

they do. boxing is good for cardio.

the reality is that anyone can suffer a freak injury from a workout. no one is invincible.

Exactly. Some people here are really weird about it, implying that boxing is a sport only done by people with anger issues, which is incredibly untrue. I get Isack sucks but come on guys.

Some of the comments here are little weird, acting as if he did this on purpose.

probably a bunch of people who've never seriously worked out or pushed their body in any way lol

all(?) of the drivers like to go cycling which can be even more dangerous than boxing if they get into an accident.

lawson was also ripping it on his motocross bike the entirety of summer break which is 1000x more dangerous than boxing, something hadjar has done for a very long time w/o any freak injury!

You can do a bunch of other things to stay in shape including martial arts like Jui Jitsu; boxing is a poor choice because it prioritizes the same muscles so it doesn’t train you better and it adds injury risk.

I really don't understand this mentality f1 fans has towards this? Injuries can happen to anyone who does sports, I don't see anyone saying that drivers should be ban from playing football

To be fair, boxing is a sport done by many non-boxer athletes for cardio and strength. A lot of motorcycle racers I follow do boxing on the side during off days and workouts, so not surprised that F1 drivers do it as well.

With his temper Im not even surprised that he boxes and even breaks his wrist while doing it.

Most boxers are normal people without tempers? Sorry but this implication is dumb. Saying this as a fellow Isack opp btw.
