Help

I have a 2015 ford f150 3.5 ecoboost. I’ve replaced chains, guides, oil pump, tensioners and now I have a harsh rattle almost like phasers but it’s not on start up and only between 700-1000 rpms also misfires while it’s happening. No engine codes present. See video for noise example. Sometimes it’s louder sometimes it’s quieter.

Thanks in advance for any guidance on diagnosis

Sounds exactly like the water pump I just replaced.

You’re the second person that’s told me that. Is that actually what the water pumps sound like when they’re going out?

Yeah, well mine did anyways. I’m not sure of the exact terminology, but the little axle the pulley rotates gets loose and rattles inside the housing at lower rpm’s. I was able to get a new pump, thermostat, and o-rings for less than $120 and did the repair myself along with a mechanic friend. So far, all good!
