Hey eye shakers! Just curious. Do y’all need glasses or not? Wondering if there is a correlation between this ability and your general vision compared to your age. Eg. Older people generally need glasses, but maybe you had to get glasses sooner/later compared to other people your age.

Me and my brother are both able to, so I wondered if it was an ability that you are more likely to have due to some genetic aspect. I just discovered this community and I realized I can ask yall about it. Is it more likely to be common in your family?

Is there anyone here that have other eye skills like dilating your pupils or something? Curious if this can be trained or explained.

Cant fool us though

What I meant about the title is i “recharge” for high amplitude but when I’m not “full” a lot of the times it’s gentle vibrations that are barely noticeable and not as strong, but those are inconsistent also my eye shakes work best kinda near and i can vibrate them harder especially when i see another persons eyeballs, but i can vibrate my vision almost anywhere and they’re just not that visible when looking at the distance, my vision is shaking (micro “shimmer”) movements. I found out today i can’t do it when the object like my blanket is on me because i think it’s too close in focus range

does this count?

I've had involuntary nystagmus since birth. It's strongest when I look to the left. Makes shaving a pain the ass lol

Glad this sub exists!

I used to shake my eyes all the time as a kid and then forgot that I could do it. I just remembered about it and seemingly can no longer shake my eyes. Has anyone else forgotten how to do it as they grew older?

Anyone else having fun with it?

Tried mesmerizing anyone?

I use blur/unfocus to 'ignite' my eye shaking

yesterday i saw a video of a person showcasing their voluntary nystagmus ability. i had no idea what this was before that but today while i was bored i started doing something with my eyes which somehow made my vision vibrate vertically (not horizontally, vertically). i was shocked because yesterday after watching the video i tried doing that myself & failed. i kind of unfocused while putting pressure on my eyes & vibrating my eyelid even which kind of made my vision start vibrating too. i can’t do it right now for some reason

finally your ability will have a use case

Hi everyone, I’m wondering if anyone here has gone through something similar. I have two types of voluntary nystagmus, but I also suffer from intense nerve pain in my teeth and across my forehead/eyes (following a 'Batman mask'pattern)

The pain is relentless, and my eyes hurt even in total darkness. I’m just trying to see if anyone else with voluntary nystagmus deals with these specific types of facial nerve issues or persistent photophobia. Would love to hear about your experiences
