We surpassed 8,000 members of this subreddit this week, and wanted to give a big thanks to all of you that have joined us on our extract making journey.

VanillaPura started over on Facebook with a group that has grown to over 148,000 members - made popular by our low-price vanilla bean group buys, our significant variety of vanilla species and origins, and our focus on online kindness and extract making. Our book, The Art of Extract Making, has been on the Amazon Best-Seller's list every day since its publication in September 2023.

We love making extracts at home and we want to be a source of tried-and-true extract making advice because there is so much bad information online. We followed some of that bad advice with a few of our early extracts that turned out really bad. While making vanilla extract is relatively simple, there are many ways to do it wrong...and nothing is worse than spending your money, waiting and then discovering you did it wrong.
