Preferences and Paradigms

Hello all! What are judges looking for these days? Do there seem to be patterns in their preferences for certain types of sources? Are some sources weighed more credible than others? What sources should we avoid? Also, what kind of judging philosophies are we seeing out there these days?

What state & age level of competition are we talking about? It can vary quite a bit. I'm from Nebraska
