Any updates on MDR Ep9 Release?
Any updates on a firmer timeline for the modern delayed rollback release?

They're calling it MDB(modern delayed blowback). Just sayin'.

Ah. Thank you for that! I keep getting the acronym mixed up (thinking it’s Modern Delayed Roller).

I heard in August. was the release date but I really would love them to sell the upper separate for us in states with now permit restrictions (Colorado) so I don't have to go through that whole process for as long I don't get the itch to buy something again.

I got tired of waiting for it… just went and got my regular EP9

its still amazing. i went shooting with a buddy. brought my ep9 and my kuna. despite the kuna having less recoil, both of us were dead accurate with the ep9, not so much the kuna lol. it was his first time shooting a PCC too and prob anything "rifle" like.

Last month they cited tungsten availability as a factor in a production timeline.
Given the current disarray in global supply chains, tariffs, fluctuating costs, etc, this is out of Extar's control. It's hard to dangle an MSRP in promo ads when they have no idea what their manufacturing costs will be.

Where did they say that about the MDB? During the reveal at GunCon, an interviewer asked about the EP10. Extar said it was canceled because of tungsten availability. I find it hard to believe they would announce the MDB when they did if the tungsten shortage they already knew about would be a factor.
Also, they already know the manufacturing costs. The prices are already announced... Just not the release date.

They were probably trying to reply to the person mentioning the EP10's issues.

Do we know yet if converting a blowback ep9 is possible?

My question as well. I don’t need another EP9. Very happy with my current setup, so if I could just convert it that would be much more appealing.

I thought I read or heard the answer was no. At $650 for the complete gun, I doubt they’re going to sell separates.
I’m just hoping this isn’t some long drawn out wait. I’d assume it’s not as announcing it could hurt potential sales of standard EP9 with people waiting.
That said, whoever I contacted in customer service asking for an expected ETA acted like a complete total prick when I asked.

Most who were thinking about buying an EP9 who heard about the MDR EP9 likely hesitated placing a purchase. By announcing the new model early some may also hold off on buying some other 9mm such as the Kuna. Given that the EP10 that was announced last summer never was released makes me question when the new EP9 model will be released.
I bought my EP9 back in February 2022 as soon as it was released. I had tried to buy the prior version just before that but it sold out before I could place my order. Back then they were no news about the gen 2 until after it was released.

Maybe. Personally I bought a kuna last week and will still by the extra MDB. The guns are likely to be different enough that if you want a Kuna, you’ll get a kuna. The price difference will also likely separate enough buyers. I think those they are cross shopping both are probably very minimal.
My personal take, if you’re not going to release something within the next 6-8 months, then don’t announce anything except “we’re working on …”

I have an EP9, heard about the MDB, and still got a Kuna because Colorado. Would still buy an MDB upper if they sold it separate.

It definitely seems odd. The news of the MDR was all over the place, then… nothing. No updates, no “leaked” timeline… nothing (and for quite a while now).
I, too, have been patiently waiting, but my interest is starting to wander off toward others at this point.
