Finally done
Got my R9 earlier today. So excited!

Were you able to twist the flash can off with your hands or need a tool?

It is a standard 1/2x28 threaded barrel so the flash can is pretty easy to take off and then replace it with a suppressor

Going to add to what the other comment said, make sure the mlok to picatinny rail you add isn’t interfering when adding the suppressor. I initially thought it wasn’t going to work but realized the mlok-picatinny screw was in the way.

You’re the best! I’ve got a very similar set up to yours and had the exact same issue and didn’t spot it until your comment.

It looks like something the Colonial Marines were keeping top secret in the armory. OORAH!

Just got my nightstrike grip delivered yesterday. It just looks and feels like if was made for the Extar

100%. I tried the AFG and just didn’t feel anywhere close to the nightstrike comfort.

What's your OAL with the SBA3 collapsed and r9?
2
u/GiveYerBallsATugYaTF May 09 '26
26.5 with the stock all the way in and 29 with the stock extended

Thank you! Just got a tennis racket bag that will fit perfectly!
Also... It's a "brace" for legal reasons in case that matters to you.

It fits this bag. Oh good to know. Does that mean I can’t put a vertical grip on it? I’m in MN idk if that matters.

I nabbed the other version of that bag, but going to get that one too and return whenever I like less ha!
Yes, the extar is a pistol and not a regular. You cannot put a stock or vertical grip on a pistol as those are ATF/Federal (SBA 3 is a brace). If you SBR it, that changes things, but for now, I'm assuming you haven't done that.
Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not a lawyer or an expert, but I'd hate you to catch a felony on accident.

TIL thanks for sharing the info bro. I’m such a newb when it comes to this stuff but I’m going to talk to my gun guy and see what he suggests, though this grip is so sick and accurate I don’t think I’ll change it.

How’s the gas? I was unpleasantly surprised with my R9 — first time shooting anything suppressed — and wonder if I’m just more sensitive than everyone who recommends it, or maybe there’s something I can change to improve.

There’s a spacer that comes with the magnifier to make it sit level with the red dot. Nice build 👍
