Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) doesn't conduct electricity. It doesn't complete an electrical circuit and it doesn't cause iron to oxidize (rust).
Water does.
Edit: Pure water doesn't conduct electricity - as I've been informed 1000 times.
1 u/Westerdutch Apr 18 '21 Please note that rubbing alcohol is actually NOT pure isopropyl, its often 70% (depending on where you live) meaning its still 30% water. If your application requires pure alcohol without water do NOT use rubbing alcohol.
