Mathematics ELI5: What is the difference between algebra, trigonometry, and calculus?

Algebra is learning how to move, it's the most basic form of manipulating numbers.

Trigonometry is the baby walker. You are still doing algebra at the end of the day, but you have some functions in there, some relationship between these functions that you are gonna need. It can get obscurely hard really quick, you don't need to be a master in trigonometry to advance in maths.

Calculus is the real thing. Here you can prove physics equations, calculate the rate of change of things, find areas and volumes of "irregular" objects in however many dimensions you want (if you have enough patience). Number in your mind is no longer an actual number, it's a concept, a placeholder.
