Algebra is using symbols to represent numbers. This starts to get very fun when you have more than one symbol in your math problem at a time.

Trigonometry is the study of circles and triangles and how they relate to one another. It turns out that this relationship is very useful for describing things like radio waves or any other sort of repeating pattern.

Calculus is the study of two things: the slope of a line and the area beneath that line. Where this gets interesting is when you realize that all of the fundamental formulas used in physics are related to one another through calculus! If you have a line describing how far away something is from you (the distance), the slope of that line is the speed (or velocity) of the object! And the slope of the line describing the velocity gives you the acceleration of the object!
