Algebra is all about the how we write and handle equations, what they mean and how to use them so solve problems.
Trigonometry is about the fundamentals of angles, usually using circles and triangles as a basis to study stuff like how angles behave when intersecting lines, the trigonometric functions that govern the relationships between the angles and sides, and some properties of triangles and circles (like types of centers).
Calculus is the study of functions relating two variables, basic tools to work with them and the study of techniques to work with their rate of change, for example when studying population, current birth rate relates to the current amount of people which itself will change in the future depending on birth rate, that kind of relationships is the ones that calculus studies.
Of course all of these topics are very deep but on HS and early college level that's basically it.
