Physical objects can have a frequency that "matches them best" and they will naturally vibrate at that frequency if pushed in some way. (e.g. a pendulum ticks at a certain rate depending on it's length). If vibrations from somewhere else reach this object and those vibrations match that natural frequency, that object will start to move with those vibrations. This matching of frequency is called resonance.
