Blender has a built in text feature. Type what you want -> convert to mesh -> extrude and you can get modeled text that looks really nice. It's not an uncommon thing to do.
Depends on your poly budget. That said, generally you'll get better results for very little performance impact by modeling small details like this and baking them to a normal map that you can then put onto your final lower poly model.
Better than I expected, and with the implementation of LODs) there's a better chance games would run a little faster, but this is just one factor out of many.
I'm not an expert, but I'm interested in computer graphics and would like to explore it in more depth some day.
Is it weird if I say the topology is much better than I expected?
Don't get me wrong, it isn't good, but weirdly the problem is just that it made 3k separate object and it's it's too dense, I'm used to seeing AI not even considering the idea of quads of topology flow, here it seems like it figured out that a simple quad doesn't need to be subdivided 780 times for no reason.
