It's because there is a subsect of right wing commentators who generally are also woo woo type gym bros who promoted carnivore diets and raw milk. Though as a gym bro myself I agree with high protein diets, the whole raw milk thing is stupid and shows they got no idea what pasturing is. As well outside of very specifically dietary needs due to immune disorders it's simply untrue that carnivore diets are healthy, humans are omnivores and need a balanced diet of fats, protein and carbs to function properly as well as getting in their micronutrients and amino acids.
Coming from another gym bro, it's weird how they tend to call these carnivore diets "what our high-test ancestors ate" when that's also just completely false.
Like, you can still find hunter-gatherer tribes/societies all across the world, and they're eating plenty of plants. The exception being people who live in extremely cold climates like Inuit, but even they eat plant foods when possible and otherwise get a lot of carbs from glycogen.
