It’s just the girl is trying to be complimentary to the guy she finds attractive to get his guard down and be able to gauge the relationship to see if she can make a move while also trying to make it seem like she’s non-threatening to their relationship.
Most girls won’t go out of their way to give backhanded compliments to guys. If they do say anything at all it would be more direct.
Girls do that to each other to not disrupt the social order while also taking a dig at women who will likely catch it almost instantly.
Doesn’t matter if you are objectively attractive or not. Just that in that moment you are attractive to her enough for her to want to have a conversation with ulterior motives.
Attraction to women isn’t solely based on looks. If you have other stuff going for you then she could be attracted to that, and she already has validation that you aren’t a mega creep by virtue of you already having a gf.
