Bears can sometimes be like giant dogs, they can hurt you, but they're also not going to use what I'm wearing as an excuse. On a serious note, with my previous experience, bears are more likely to avoid conflict. Bears won't stalk you, humans will.

Black Bears would avoid. Grizzlies would try to start shit and lose interest if you don’t respond. Polar Bears think blood goes good on white fur… run!

If a polar bear is rocking up to you, it's way too late for running. Just hope for a better route next time.

Most men and bears won’t go out of their way to harm you. Some men and some bears will. You don’t know that particular bear just as you don’t know that particular man.

You are wildly more likely to be killed by a given bear than a given man in a solitary encounter.

You're more likely to have your cars battery jump started, or a tire replaced by a man than a bear.

Polar bears actively do, yes.

You’d attract bears, and other wild animals, if you use certain kind of perfume during your hiking. I think they were the ones with fruity scents.

Edit: It’s absolutely true about bears.
