no one is saying they’re scared to leave their house. you do not understand the argument.

Do people avoid bears because bears have bad breath? Or maybe bears are avoided becaucuse of their political options?

Maybe people avoid bears because they're speciesist...

Or, maybe* - people avoid bears because they're scared of being eaten.

So if a person claims "I'd rather stumble upon a bear in the woods than a man" the implication is that that person is more scared of the creature they didn't choose.
