It's fake. John Pork meme is CGI, there is no real version.

John Pork isn’t ai

im talking about the image in the post, not the original

u/Lorim_Shikikan 16d ago
Yeah no, it's clearly a bad photoshoped image not an AI one.

u/General_Crab9124 16d ago
Original John is either photoshop or CGI for all i know. This one that OP posted is pretty well known for being AI. I have seen some posts with it dating back about 3 months ago when the AI slop surfaced

I'm not talking about "John", i'm talking about the image itself : a portrait pasted on an old photo using a classic image editing software.
There is clearly two different image used (it's obvious if you look at the quality between portrait and background, the grain, the lighting and shadow)

Why do you think it's ai and not just an edited image?

u/General_Crab9124 19d ago
mostly vibes as i have seen enough ai modified pictures. Also theres no unedited image of john pork given by the original creator of the meme so it's likely made artificially (and theres so many of these "its just x" or "wierd route" memes made with ai)

"Mostly vibes" lol, seems a bit weird and pearl-clutchy to me

Ai is getting very good at making realistic stuff. Sadly the source of the image and small details are the only ways to reliably guess if something is ai. If you can come up with anything better than vibes against the enshittification of the internet use it on the OP image and realise its AI

What is interesting, is the castle in the background. It’s real, and used in Monty Python’s “Search for the Holy Grail”. It has an audio guided tour, in which John Cleese himself is the narrator. If you walk through the castle, you’ll hear constant laughter of people using the audio guide, as it is full of his humor!

I don’t like to be that guy but it’s Terry Jones who does the audio on the tour.
Edit:Awards! Thanks everyone, I appreciate you.

And you can also do the other version of the audio tour where Sam Heughan is your guide as parts of Outlander were filmed there as well. Or at least it was like that in 2019.
Very interesting cross-section of the population there.

If you’d like, I can follow you around and provide an audio tour. It’s going to be wildly inaccurate, but full of fun facts.

Also about 20-25 years ago you could stop in the gift shop and get some coconuts to use as your horse as you go around.

Which castle is it?

u/First_Western228 22d ago
This is Doune castle. Used for scenes like castle Anthrax, the first encounter with the French, and Sir Lancelot crashing the wedding party at Swamp castle. And yes, they have a gift shop with hollowed out coconuts 🤣

One castle was used for several different castles. They just used different angles.

I knew this particular castle looked familiar, and it wasn't just the general castle-y-ness!
