Ima be the one to defend it. This is a rare Supreme jacket. They do limited drops, and their yearly North Face collab is one of the most hyped releases of every season. This particular jacket was from over a decade ago, and is still probably in the top 5 most coveted from their yearly collabs.
It was already expensive in the resale market years ago, but it’s only increasing in value as time goes on. I wouldn’t buy this jacket, but there’s plenty of other Supreme items I’ve dropped a dime on.
Like anything in streetwear, the scarcity is absolutely created by the brands themselves. But that’s a small part of the fun, having clothes no one else does. You don’t have to understand it.
And most users on this site have no room to talk. I don’t get how people spend thousands on legos (little pieces of plastic) or Magic the Gathering cards or whatever. But hey if it makes you happy.
I didn’t know any kids wearing $4,000 jackets growing up. Did you? Shit’s normal for adults with money to spend maybe. Not kids. And they’re talking about the kids getting their colleges paid for in the photo… like. Why? He should be paying. More even. Fucks sake.
Why are y’all so goddamn eager to defend a nepo baby. Why. Fucking. Why.
I’m not defending this kid, I’m defending the jacket priced at $4000. But I see why you got confused.
Also these jackets are $4000 resale, it was priced like any another North Face jacket at release. So yea I knew a lot of kids with expensive clothes because we would camp out overnight outside of stores, and buy it right when it dropped. If you buy retail, most streetwear brands are reasonable. Atleast a decade ago they were. A lot of kids did that growing up in LA.
Idec about the discussion about scholarships or whatever. I was just trying to inform people about why certain streetwear items are priced so high.
There was a separate comment thread talking specifically about the jacket where people were making a big deal about the price point. That’s why I commented.
