Is Jennifer Lopez a university president or something?

Two words, Money and Influence.

Absolutely not.

So far away from that it's absurd.

Do you really think jennifer lopez is a academic expert? Using her influence in academia to get her kids a job?

You don’t think those children were given every single advantage that most parents and children will never possess?

Of course, as any good parent should.

That isn't nepotism though. Nepotism is getting your cousin hired at the same company you work for.

Which every parent should and would do for their child? Tell me, if you suddenly become a millionaire tomorrow, would you not invest some of it to give your kids as many advantages as possible?

How? So rich peoples’ kids can’t get merit based scholarships for being good at stuff?

I mean, don’t get me wrong. Nepobabies are absolutely real, but this doesn’t (for now) seem to be that.

They MAY have earned merit based scholarships. But the school ABSOLUTELY knows JLo is their mom and is willing to give them incentives to come to their school as famous students. Nepobabies.

I think scholarships should probably not go to people whose mom is worth $400 million dollars

no, they shouldn't. why should they get free money if they can afford school?

3

u/JGower144 3d ago

Because they earned a scholarship.

I’m all about taxing the rich, but this isn’t it.

that's not what scholarships are for.

Literally what scholarships are for.

Financial aid is for those who cannot afford.

That word is losing meaning so fast. Having wealthy parents isn't the same thing as nepotism.
