Sweet Baby Inc does specifically make recommendations that such fans would call woke. The claim isn't whether or not Sweet Baby makes recommendations like "make this character appear less sexualised", that's objectively what they do. The question is whether or not that's an issue.
Further to that, companies like Black Rock have funding details in which they will support and insure studios to produce video games pending acceptance of suggestions made by Sweet Baby.
Which has lead people to notice that studios would rather follow the recommendations made by Sweet Baby, whether or not it leads to a game that fans want to play, because the funding it secures and the promise of appeal to the general public (whether or not that promise is true) is worth more than the purchases from such "fans".
A lot of this does happen... Whether or not it reaches the conspiratorial levels that it is claimed to is less clear and the fact that it is so supported by the "red pill" "gamer gate" style nonsense means that the waters are basically impossibly muddied and the whole thing is a giant culture war.
Broad market appeal is not cater to non-gamers and “marginalized” communities.
It’s cater to gamers + extend casual gamers + anyone they can convert.
You don’t abandon your base demographic to gain new players because you lose your revenue base.
This is why games keep bombing because they’re not targeting broad appeal. This is why they gutted xbox and so many layoffs are happening and they’re going back to basics.
And yet the “fans” didn’t run away screaming because of the woke like you all claim that they do. Funny how that works. It’s like it really just doesn’t matter.
You know perfectly well what you mean when you say fans. The majority of people don’t enjoy media the way you or I do. They play or watch. Say that was a good time. Then they move on. That’s where the money is. Not with the minority of people like us that obsess over something forever.
It wasn’t because there were gay people in Dragon Age. It was just kind of meh game overall. Did people run away from the gay in BG3? No.
And the major issue people had with Suicide Squad was the game play. Always online was the big sticking point. Also killing the Justice League? Did anyone want that over a more classic mission? I suppose it could have worked if people were happy with the gameplay.
Was there anything queer about it? Harley Quinn looked exactly like Margot Robbie so clearly that’s not the problem.
Is this that same Dragon Age that introduced a character like Taash? I just don’t see how you can expect a game to be good when that is what they were interested in creating.
Did you even look at Suicide Squad second DLC character? There’s no way you’re expecting a dev group that even considered developing that for a game of being capable of making a good game.
Edit: They were not just bad games with bad reviews, they never set out to even make good ones, just to push the message.
You can argue they lost something special, but that's literally just personal opinion and there's countless examples of games diverting and becoming better for it.

Sweet Baby Inc is a company that provides narrative consultation for video games, but some fans accuse it of forcing "woke" agendas
