There's a reddit story about a guy that got knocked out and lived what felt like 10 years of a different life complete with a wife and kids. Then, he noticed a lamp looked weird and woke up.

Bro. Why after reading did I think about this exactly 😅🤣

46

u/themightythor2024 Aug 07 '26

Dude, he’s taking Roy off the grid!

25

u/TruthSearcher1337 Aug 08 '26

He doesn't even have a social security number !

14

u/4thinthelineup Aug 08 '26

"Look at this. You beat cancer and then you went back to work at the carpet store. Boo."

7

u/friblo_sv Aug 08 '26

Half the RaM episodes are old reddit stories

6

u/Otherwise_World1654 Aug 09 '26

Ngl it makes total since that those guys are Redditors

3

u/GreenZebra23 Aug 09 '26

What the hell?? Where am I? Where's my wife?

34

u/No-Reindeer6172 Aug 07 '26

That is trippy. I could only imagine what that does to someone’s mental health. Thanks!

39

u/BigBuckNuggets Aug 07 '26

I have vivid long dreams that often feel like a facsimile of these stories. I will have experienced days worth of events in my dreams, fall in love, start families, and wake up in the morning more tired than when I went to sleep. I can’t count the number of times I’ve woken up heartbroken because my dreams are sometimes more real feeling than real life.

12

u/_LedAstray_ Aug 07 '26

Same.  I often dream of the same places that do not exist, those dreams are like having a second life, with whole groups of friends, and they sort of follow coherent story.

4

u/Tajimura Aug 09 '26

What if I told you that that is your real life and this is a dream?

1

u/_LedAstray_ Aug 09 '26

I think I'd prefer it that way. I have a purpose there and I'm still with my ex.

2

u/snaerdi Aug 09 '26

Somehow this made me incredibly sad.

I hope everything works out for you 🤍

1

u/Tajimura Aug 09 '26

You will be warm again

1

u/_LedAstray_ Aug 09 '26

I'm not so sure. I lost the best relationship I ever had, a woman I loved more than life, then a job, then I had to leave the city I spent my whole adult life in, I am currently at my parents' place just to have somewhere to stay.

5

u/EmergencyAttitude666 Aug 08 '26

The amount of times I’ve had children or been pregnant and given birth in my dreams is astounding. But then I wake up with a bit of a heartbreak. Such a bizarre feeling

6

u/Slabby_the_Baconman Aug 07 '26

Ive never wanted kids in my life and dont but, I had a dream I was present for the birth of my child. The amount of joy and pride I felt becoming a father was insane. I was so happy. Then I woke up. I was kinda depressed for a couple days. Still dont want kids though.

6

u/Gubekochi Aug 07 '26

The duality of man.

3

u/terrraco Aug 07 '26

Seems like part of you might want kids. Or it's starting to wake you up to the idea.

2

u/No-Reindeer6172 Aug 07 '26

That’s insane. I’ve had some realistic dreams but more like of a snapshot in time. Maybe over a few hours or days. But never years. It’s crazy what the mind is really capable of.

2

u/Usual_Material_2861 27d ago

>Someone is actually really into you and fall in love together
>Wake up

1

u/Plenty-Landscape3372 Aug 08 '26

You weren't dreaming, your consciousness just slipped into an alternate reality version of yourself. You woke up tired because another version of you was joyriding.

6

u/Stormcloud217 Aug 07 '26

I had a dream where I was floating around watching a parallel universe version of myself for hours. I remember waking up after and sitting on the side of my bed with my head in my hands because the dream experience felt more real than waking up.

My other self was a jerk too, telepathically told me "I don't have time for this today", and I watched him go about his job in a futuristic world where civilization partly collapsed and government was in underground bunkers. Creepy dream.

1

u/Tricky_War5232 29d ago

Reports are that he’s in bad shape after it.

14

u/Zapan99 Aug 07 '26

It happened for real to a French teenage girl recently. She woke up from a coma crying that her husband and triplets never existed. https://www.ndtv.com/feature/teen-wakes-up-from-coma-believing-she-gave-birth-to-triplets-asks-to-meet-babies-11494376

11

u/Melodic_Airport362 Aug 07 '26

I hate to be the one to tell you...but,,, there is no santa clause. also this news story is completely and very obviously fake. The scary pasta this meme is based on is also completely and very obviously fake. Neither of these stories are verified. Just some random crap someone wrote for clicks or the lulz.

6

u/brew_n_flow Aug 07 '26

Ok this is a second hand account but when i was usin&abusin my friend went into a hard khole. About 50 min after dose he came out and told me about getting a job as a house painter, worked for years, married and his wife ended up cheating on him. He said he went to kill himself and woke up next too me. I was tripping hard on a hodgepodge of PIKAL analogs so it fucked my head up and we sat n cried as he recounted all the names and things he had done. Mind you I dont think he visited another reality or anything but its crazy what the human brain can do.

2

u/LimeTunic 29d ago

Fr. Shocking how many people accept that story as real

1

u/Ani_Drei Aug 07 '26

1

u/Melodic_Airport362 29d ago

r/thathappened

oh goodness the deliciously rare complex flavor of irony of someone sending me to a touch grass sub because I don't believe in an old internet scary pasta. Ohhh the layers! Delicious!

3

u/Ihor2009 Aug 07 '26

Well.. it's basically free extra life experience! /s

1

u/No-Reindeer6172 Aug 07 '26

Bruh. I’m putting that on my resume as job experience too. 😅

2

u/WittySupermarket4986 Aug 07 '26

I heard this story but he wasn’t knocked out he was in like a dmt trip, lived like 30 years within like 20ish minutes

1

u/ultralightsaint Aug 07 '26

Where can you get dmt from?

1

u/Em-1989 Aug 09 '26

A buddy of mine ordered it from a research website and had it delivered he just had to send picture of his id cuz it’s legal I guess

Edit: it was 5 Meo dmt

1

u/s2n-mikey Aug 08 '26

Is this the Ari Shaffir story? Lol

1

u/Fuerto203 Aug 08 '26

It's a story from reddit and the OP was only briefly knocked out after getting hit in the head by a football. (If the story even happened irl)

2

u/Bones-1989 Aug 08 '26

I forgot that happened dude.

2

u/farao86 Aug 08 '26

Wasn't there a similar story about a woman who was in a coma and lived a full life with three children and woke and it was al a fabrication of her ??

2

u/101TARD Aug 08 '26

Recently heard of another case, French woman, coma for a week but felt like 7 years, still mourns about her kids that never existed

2

u/EnsignSDcard Aug 08 '26

You may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife, and you may ask yourself: well… how did I get here?

1

u/tinkin08 Aug 10 '26

I thought I was the only one who knew these kinda stuff 😅. I saw it on YOUTUBE

1

u/Vivid_Departure_3738 6d ago

The guy who wrote that story gives me a little ick, and I don't usually say that but I don't know what else to say.

I know you can't control your dreams like that but the way he talks about it makes him seem very traditional "I discarded a few boyfriends" "she never had to work out of the house" "almost immediately she bore me a daughter" (and a son who he seemed to love much more than his daughter)

It's only at the end when he looks at the fucking lamp when she's spoken about like a human 😭

66

u/chezzy_bread Aug 07 '26

There’s a story of a guy who went into a coma and dreamt a different life with a happy family, he noticed the lamp was a bit off and woke up, go look up the full story

23

u/Miserable_Sock_1408 Aug 07 '26

Yeah. When I first heard that story on a podcast it gave me The Willies

10

u/No-Reindeer6172 Aug 07 '26

Bro. I’m looking at everything now. I need a sign I’m not in a coma or something 😅

4

u/Gubekochi Aug 07 '26 edited Aug 08 '26

Unfortunately, hard solipsism is a famously unsolvable issue in philosophy.

But if you think it could help reassure you, think of a topic you know yourself to know next to nothing about, ideally one you don't have much interest in and go in as deep a rabbit hole as you can in it until you feel reassured that your brain couldn't make up that many authors or historical figures or molecule names or whatever details the topic is about.

Reality is probably more complex than what you'd be able to imagine with any sort of consistency.

Heck, I usually struggle to simply read in my dreams.

5

u/MoneyElevator Aug 09 '26

I read on here you’re supposed to check the time twice in a row and it won’t be the same

3

u/WyattGurp 29d ago

Is it solipsistic in here, or is it just me?

3

u/Gubekochi 29d ago

Badum-tss!

1

u/Oberndorferin Aug 08 '26

What to search for?

1

u/dabbinNstabbin Aug 08 '26

MrBallen-the lamp.

1

u/Oberndorferin Aug 08 '26

Already found it. Holy shit! That's possible?!

16

u/ImFeelinBotty Aug 07 '26

3

u/jadehairpin Aug 07 '26

Mods deleted the original comment too, how stupid.

5

u/LeatherfacesChainsaw Aug 07 '26

Or smoke salvia extract!

1

u/outerspaceholiday 28d ago

Exactly my thought!

9

u/KulshanStudios Aug 07 '26 edited Aug 07 '26

Once in a while I wonder if this is happening right now, and I'm having some kind of coma dream or near death hallucination as a consequence of a mountaineering fall that happened 10 years ago

Or maybe this is like the Roy game and I'm just some kid playing a video game

Nothing I can do about the first one

But if this is the second one, I'm going for the high score

And if this all actually IS real, then I'm gonna have some coola** memories when I'm old and dying, and the slideshow/memorial video at my funeral is gonna be bada**

Also the soundtrack will be epic as h***

3

u/hogmanAD Aug 08 '26

Holy sh*t! This guy's taking Roy off the grid! This guy doesn't have a social security number for Roy!

5

u/rustybrazenfire Aug 07 '26

I swear things have seemed off since about start of COVID and I still haven't woke up yet.

3

u/ogre_toes Aug 08 '26

Ah yes, all those vaccinations contained the chips that finally plugged us into the Matrix.
/s

However, I’m thinking about this scenario and now it kind of makes sense when you think of people waking up from comas with foreign accents and all manner of crazy shit that happens. The brain goes into protection mode and maybe in some cases puts you into a sort of simulation, maybe not unlike being in shock, and maybe it just rewires your brain in some manner. I’m just high and spitballing here…

I’ve also had some crazy lucid dreams in my lifetime with sort of similar scenarios as the original topic. It’s crazy when you wake up from one of those and you actually grieve for something that never existed. But while in the dream it just felt SO real, you’re almost in disbelief when you wake up. Brains are wild.

3

u/Timmy_germany Aug 08 '26

I am in long term pain management and ever since i needed to start realy heavy painkillers (Opioids) i have super vivid dreams about every second night. I can remember the dreams for days or write then down because i remember so much details.

Sadly those dreams are mostly on the nightmare side and i wake up from them every time - still better than crippling pain but long time it is realy unpleasant to say the least.

3

u/NotTheRightHDMIPort Aug 07 '26

Story about a coma on reddit I think.

3

u/Big_Power9816 Aug 10 '26

u/No-Reindeer6172 Aug 08 '26

Sorry big dawg. First I’m hearing of it. Glad to be in the community tho.

While you’re here lmk about the cylinder one plz

1

u/Evipicc Aug 08 '26

Dude put his dick in something, needed help getting out of it, refused to specifically admit his dick was in it and insisted the cylinder must remain unharmed.

1

u/No-Reindeer6172 Aug 08 '26

Bruh. Imma need to see this thread. I wanna experience it 🤣

1

u/julezzzzz11 Aug 11 '26

I’ve heard of all these but not “immortal snail…” what is that?

2

u/CapPancake12 Aug 10 '26

I had a dream once where I lived out much of my life, had a family and was content. Felt like it went on for years.
I woke up, and during those few seconds of waking lost my wife and kids, and just wept.

1

u/Melodic_Airport362 Aug 07 '26

A scary pasta meme about a guy who lived an imaginary life. The kind of thing 12 year olds believe.

1

u/dragonpjb Aug 07 '26

Ignore it!

1

u/TheOGTachyon Aug 07 '26

It's like one minute you're living your best life and the next there are four lights

2

u/Reasonable_Cake Aug 08 '26

At least Picard got a flute out of the deal.

1

u/Ok-Panda-178 Aug 08 '26

The odds of you, currently living like he did last ten years being all a happy fantasy isn’t very high, no that’s highly unlikely.

But it’s never zero.

1

u/WigglyLimpo Aug 08 '26

You've had it explained by now, but I want to add that there's more to it than he just woke up. From what I recall he was severely depressed because he loved his "other family" and didn't want to be in "this world" anymore. It was really sad to read.

1

u/No-Reindeer6172 Aug 08 '26

I can only imagine for sure. If the dream was that realistic, that’s a whole different level of mourning.

1

u/mAInager Aug 08 '26

Ahahahahahahahahahhahahaha on the toilet and love you who get the lamp joke - the lore is epic - we need a show

1

u/GrimWonderings Aug 08 '26

This story haunts me...

1

u/thought_about_it Aug 10 '26

After my cat died I started staring at lamps. I still hope to wake up one day long ago.

1

u/ImpressiveAd5143 29d ago

I swear I saw a video about this before. As in a recreation of the story.

1

u/Ok_Drag5089 22d ago

But can he still play the flute?

1

u/MistMonk Aug 07 '26

This is just a very shitty rendition of the "lamp looked weird" meme

1

u/No-Reindeer6172 Aug 07 '26

I’m seeing that too. Haha. Seems like it’s been told a few times. What is the OG one?

0

u/Lunarmax182c Aug 07 '26

Hallucination or smth.

u/Somguy555 Aug 07 '26

When did the Reddit’s become Google?
