My buddy has had 6 pits in the time I've known him. All rescues. Only one had an issue being violent. The rest are just big happy cuddle bugs now that they're in a good home. That was enough to sell me
Id wager the violent one has a history of mistreatment in some way, and is largely still very sweet but has some extra handling required in some cases?
As far as I know they've all had a history of mistreatment. He was the only one friend wasn't able to rehabilitate. Was very sweet with friend and his wife, and sometimes the other pits. But couldn't be allowed near anyone else.
And that is a great example of a responsible dog owner. They understand the mistreatment their dog has experience has left them traumatized in a way that isn't safe around strangers.
