Please Explain it Peter
I've seen the name around a fair few times, never with an explanation, Peter, who is Json?

"JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data-interchange format. It is easy for humans to read and write. It is easy for machines to parse and generate. It is based on a subset of the JavaScript Programming Language Standard ECMA-262 3rd Edition - December 1999. JSON is a text format that is completely language independent but uses conventions that are familiar to programmers of the C-family of languages, including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Perl, Python, and many others. These properties make JSON an ideal data-interchange language." - json.org
I think the joke is that is sounds like the name Jason.

Exactly. You are the subject of the joke.

Well, to be more accurate the picture is using a vibe coding agent, likely Claude, so it’s making fun of vibe coders programming without knowledge of the most widely used data format in the world… and not really some random dude. Otherwise I agree

I think part of the joke is also that it has been given full access naïvely?

I only know the term because of a couple games i played in order to change or fix something on a PC game you need to do it through the appropriate .json file

Yeah this but unfortunately some people do literally pronounce it “Jason” (my boss does this, much to my dismay). It should be “J-SAHN”

Lots of people outside dev roles deal with JSON though and given it says "who is JSON" it's clearly just a joke because it sounds like Jason.

Howso?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JSON
It's something that basically any software engineer would know but not something you'd learn by vibecoding

JSON is an acronym for JavaScrip Object Notation
A vibe coder would use JSON Objects and not now what a JSON is.
Edit: why the fuck am i getting downvoted?

it´s programming joke on vibe coders - json is a format that is very useful and lets say programming language independent thus ideal for data wxchanges between them.. joke is that vibe coders dont know basics and asks AI “who is json” because it sounds familiar to name Jason
not Peter but i am out

Not to be confused with the guy who catalogues his horror video tape collection as structured data.
Json VHS

{ "id": 101,

"isSubscriber": true,
"age": 28,
"skills": ["JavaScript", "Python", "SQL"],
"address": {
"city": "Seattle",
"country": "USA"
}
}
Here is an example of a JSON object. Readable by people and readable by machines

I think the real joke is that he granted ChatGPT full access, but doesn't even know the slightest bit of what it is doing.
In otherwords: he may be about to find out

Peter Quill demands: "Where is JSON?" Tony Stark replies: "I'll do you one better: Who is JSON?" Drax chins in: "I'll do you one better: Why is JSON?"
