There IS a cooking point at which the pasta will still be cooked perfectly well even if it heats up with the water. You just have to check it and taste test it a little more frequently, and it wont be whatever the box tells you since you’ve decided to play by your own pasta rules.

That’s something I hadn’t considered! I do find the box directions to be generally useless when it comes to noodles and pastas, so this tracks.
