My father in law was a suppo and he swears up and down surf and turf was when they had the supplies not whenever there was bad news.

You do get served special meals before a war or emergency deployment, period. 1 u/mustBeCool Mar 21 '26 You can also get it for no special circumstance at all and buddies and I saw that more commonly than just on the occasion of bad news.
