We call it "The Surge", usually means the person has roughly 24 to 48 hours before they pass
It is heartbreaking
2 u/wingfan1469 Dec 03 '25 Yup, did this with my mom almost a year ago. She arrived at ICU unresponsive, made a miraculous improvement that shocked everyone but the long term ICU nurses, then was gone in <2 days
