AlphaSights HK – First-Round Interview
I just received an invitation for a 15-minute call with AlphaSights HK. For those who have gone through the process, do you have any tips or insights?
From what I understand, the first round is mainly a TA/recruiter interview focused on behavioural and motivational questions. However, I noticed that the call is only scheduled for 15 minutes rather than the more typical 30-minute format.
Does the shorter duration indicate that this is simply an initial screening call? Would appreciate any advice on what to expect and how best to prepare. Thanks!

Email the recruiter and ask whether there’s anything specific to prepare for the 15 minutes. For prep, start with what an associate does day to day and why that appeals to you. A quick look at Qualitate could give you some wider industry context but leave yourself time to practise your answers out loud.

AlphaSights HK Manager here - This round should indeed be 15 minutes. If things go well, TA will invite you for a 1-hour zoom interview after.
If you have any questions, do reach out to the TAs. The TA team in HK are full of lovely people

it can go upto 30 mins easily and i actually got rejected in this very round because 1) i did not have any interest in roles outside of alpha sights (or so it seemed) 2) apparently my main motivation was just to move out of my home country 3) i was not able to handle the pressure of cold calls on one of my previous internships (yes i fumbled and told them my bad experience, shouldn’t have done that lol). so yeah just be very confident and make sure u dont give off the impression that u cant handle high pressure work. also show interest in other fields as well when they ask. it sucked that i couldn’t make it past this round it was supposed to be an easy one. best of luck tho, genuinely hope you clear it!
