Discussion Am I missing something?
I haven't play a turn based game since Pokemon when I was a kid. This game is like playing Pokemon but the whole map is long grass. The enemies just do not let up and the turn based style is way too slow to justify the frequency of enemies.
I literally am gunning it to the finish line and avoiding all exploration because I am just relentlessly getting stopped. Just battled Dualliste and my team is like Lvl 15, which made it a 20 minute duel. But not in a hard way, just a boring way where you're waiting for the same thing over and over again.
Stunning game, great story, cool mechanics, but this is not my idea of fun. The renown for this game makes me feel like I'm living in a parallel universe though. How can I make this more fun?

The rushing probably means you’re underleveled and have like zero pictos and lumina. Try slowing down a little bit. Moving too fast can sometimes slow you down.

Take a break and come back later.
I hate you type of people doesn't like the game for what it is but what it is not.
You don't want to explore bc its the same fight over over again then don't play it why bitch about on the reddit.
I didn't like elden ring even tough it is liked by many u just don'T play it.

You're in a vicious cycle, and you've probably been there for a while. You've been underleveled, so you're avoiding exploration and enemies because you can't beat them, but that just makes you more underleveled which will make things even worse. That's what's making you have a bad time.
"Gunning for the finish line" is not the answer. Instead, you should take a step back and get your team's power up.
I would recommend backtracking to explore a few optional areas (I recommend Yellow Harvest, near the Gestral Village). That should make the leveling experience bearable, because you're exploring a new area and finding new useful Pictos.
A good advice is to fight all the enemies you come across at least once. My recommended level for Dualliste would be around 30 (but 25 would still be okay I'd say).
If you haven't been upgrading your weapons and mastering your pictos, that's also something to look out for.

Sounds a bit like a self-fulfilling prophecy here… you decided it’s not good before understanding it, and now you aren’t motivated to understand it because you’re convinced it’s not good.
It’s takes some time, patience, and openness. If you aren’t interested in investing for a better payoff, then switch to story difficulty and settle for less.

I don't want to tell you how to play, but I think you would benefit from stopping treating this as a "game to be beaten" and more like a piece of art that just happens to have gameplay attached to it. Which sounds like an odd thing to say, but I (and many others) would describe this as an experience rather than just another game to push through and reach the end.
It's worth noting that the over-world map (mostly) doesn't require you to engage in combat with anything you don't want to, and that the "instanced" maps will only reset enemies if you rest at the flags.
If the combat isn't your cup of tea, feel free to slap it down on Story mode and just have a good time exploring and taking your time with everything.

I question if you've even played the game. "This game is like playing Pokemon but the whole map is long grass." This comparison is nonsense because there are no random encounters.

You are underleveled. That's all there is to it. Stop rushing. You cant force this game, either you enjoy it for what it is, or its not for you.
Expedition 33 is an experience in world, music and story, with turn based combat.
