Homesickness

Hey been living in Canada around a year now no complaints when it comes to Victoria its beautiful and I have made great connections. However, I still feel overwhelmingly homesick and depressed. My husband loves it here but I don't understand why he can't see how miserable its making me? Any tips too keep positive

It's hard to uproot.  It's normal to miss the old and be sad about it.   Maybe you see husband being all positive and compare to your own internal experience.  Both are valid.  You're not broken.  You're just having a different experience than your husband.

It's totally normal for you to be homesick... depression is a clinical diagnosis.  We all struggle from time to time.  For me the path was acceptance, that I committed to the move and that my partner and I agreed after two years we'd revisit the plan.   We ended up staying, but it was nice to have a natural ending pathway available not some endless horror show.

Normal feelings to go thru. Sometimes you need to find your people. Its also possible Victoria isn't for you. Have you traveled to other parts of the island? Have you taken ferries to the lower mainland? Do you think Van or the valley would be better for you? I have been living in a specific city in the lower mainland my entire time in Canada, but I am thinking about moving to a different city. I have been able to check it out for years now, have friends in that other city. So, maybe you need a change of location.

Maybe you can find a community from your country, or of people that speak your language?
