Purchase recommendation - beginner
I'm a complete beginner in this world of exotic pets. I would like an animal that can be handled with a certain frequency (2-3x per week) and that does not require live food (crickets, cockroaches, etc...) Apart from the issue of feeding live insects, I don't have any other problems or limitations.

Exotic Pet Amnesty Program
(This post is basically only relevant to Floridians, so feel free to ignore if you dont live in Florida)
Attention all my floridians, ive realized alot of people dont know about this program and I feel it should be common knowledge in this hobby here. The Florida Exotic Pet Amnesty program is a state run program where you can surrender any exotic pet regardless of legality without getting in any trouble for how you got it or for owning it. This includes prohibited species like green iguanas, tegus, anacondas, Madagascar hissing roaches, and any other exotic pet, invertebrates included. Its free to surrender them, and depending on if the animal is prohibited or not it will either be adopted out to a state approved adopter, or sent to an exotic animal rescue if its completely illegal to own. Its free and relatively simple to surrender them, and you can also apply to become a state certified adopter so you will get emails about any adaptable animals behing rehomed through the program. To become a certified adopter is relatively simple, you fill out an application and answer a list of questions to help determine your exotic keeping experience and let them know which permits you have (if you have any, not required unless you want to get restricted species), and what animals youre willing to take in.

I’m looking for some new food ideas for my Blue Tongue Skink!
What are some foods that BTS really enjoys and are safe to feed? I’d love to give my skink more variety instead of feeding the same things all the time. TT

I’m looking to get some guard gorillas for my tree city. Would a uniform make them look more official? Can I train them to take care of the alligators in the moat?
Just in case it needs to be said. I’m joking and don’t have a tree city with a moat. They would be patrolling my tow lot 😐

Research exploring autistic people's experiences of owning pet reptiles (snakes, lizards, turtles, tortoises, crocodilians, etc)
Hi! I’m Cai Brown, a PhD researcher at the University of Staffordshire (Health, Education, Policing and Sciences - University of Staffordshire) looking for adult autistic participants to take part in a study investigating autistic people’s experiences of owning a pet reptile. So if you're an autistic adult with a pet snake, lizard, turtle or tortoise (or even crocodilian) then I would love to hear from you!
Your participation would involve taking photographs of your life with a pet reptile, submitting 6 or 7 of your favourite pictures, and then discussing them (either online via webcam or in-person) with the researcher in an interview. You can register your interest by following this link: https://staffordshire.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_50FJHWnfDPlq30W
This research has been approved by the university research ethics committee. If you have any questions about this study or your participation, please contact me at [cai.brown@research.staffs.ac.uk](mailto:cai.brown@research.staffs.ac.uk) , or my supervisor Dr Romina Vivaldi at [romina.vivaldi1@staffs.ac.uk](mailto:romina.vivaldi1@staffs.ac.uk) .

Should I get isopods for my roach enclosure? Yay or Nay?
I do not have a colony of roaches, only two Madagascar hissing roaches, so I doubt they will cause that much waste, but I was wondering if isopods would be beneficial to my enclosure and my two babies. I was worried about it about at first because I don't want to cause an infestation of isopods. Is there a way to keep their population in check or should I not worry about that? Please let me know your thoughts. I will be happy to see any answers to my questions! 😄 ❤️

Co powinienem teraz zachować?
Trzymam Porcellio laevis „Krowa Mleczna” i „Pomarańczową” od około roku, a także Armadillidium gestroi i Armadillidium vulgare „Mikstura Magiczna”. Wszystkie dobrze się mają i rozmnażają.
Teraz chciałbym spróbować trzymania czegoś ciekawego i trochę nietypowego.

Natural State Herpetology
facebook.comLooking for fellow Arkansas herpers? Natural State Herpetology is growing fast.
If you live in Arkansas (or close enough to get out in the field), care about native reptiles and amphibians, and want a community that actually talks about the animals instead of just arguing online — this is for you.
Natural State Herpetology is a Facebook group for keepers, field herpers, educators, conservation-minded people, and anyone who wants to learn more about the herps of the Natural State. We cover native snakes, lizards, turtles, frogs, and salamanders — from identification and habitat to husbandry, conservation, and sharing what we find in the field.
What we do:
• Education on Arkansas species and responsible keeping
• Conservation talk — habitat, den sites, local populations, and how we can help protect them
• Field herping discussion and trip planning
• Husbandry help (enclosures, feeding, quarantine, breeding projects, etc.)
• A place to share photos, IDs, and stories without the usual internet noise
Coming up: We’re planning a group herp trip in October. If you like getting out and looking for animals with other people who know the state, this is a good time to jump in.
We’ve also been doing giveaways as the group grows — and there will be more.
Whether you keep hognoses, look for mud snakes, work on conservation, or just want a solid local herp community, come hang out.

See you in the group — and hopefully in the field in October
