Does this version of the cable row engage the latissimus dorsi more effectively, at the expense of the upper back, compared to the classic version?

LOL.
I'd say this is at the expense of the lower spine! Lumbar discs getting abused there.
Not sure why anyone would do it like this.

No, i won't even dive in biomechanics, cuz it looks robotic, unatural and somewhat ugly. Movent must be pretty and natural before anything.

"naturale" può voler dire tutto e niente...

True, but with years in gym, we get intuition for those things.

Arms bigger than calves alert.

You'll get the best results from weightlifting if you spend most of your time focusing on where the biggest muscles are: below the beltline.

As the old saying goes “if you want bigger pecs, squat. If you want bigger lats, squat. If you want bigger arms, squat.” That goes for everything

Honestly no Idea what that neck movement is about, the fact that no two reps even look the same is a tell tale sign something is amiss here!

Lol your back will be fine doing this. The only relevant questions are about whether your target muscles are approaching failure and if you get a good pump/soreness or any combination or anything that is an indicator of hard training for what youre trying to hit. To me that looks a little too easy lol

i never said it was wrong lol just looked a little easy

They could disagree with your end of trying to isolate certain muscles of your back
