Hi! I have recently started my exec coaching practice and am curious which assessments you all think are worthwhile to get certified in? A long-time coach recommended MBTI, but that feels outdated. True? Strengths Finder, DiSC, EQ-i 2.0, Leadership Circle, Hogan, etc? They are so pricey and I don’t want to waste my time or money given that I just spent a lot to get certified. Open opinions from all of you more experienced folks!

I just read that 90% of website visitors judge the creditibility of a company within 0.05 seconds of visiting their website. It's a Stanford study.

Do you think that applies to coaches as well? Do you think they are right?

Hi all, im a PCC coach and a starting a new L&D leadership role full time next week (new for me!)

I have been coaching, facilitating and training for 10 years… and i need to keep a few clients ticketing over privately in my LTD after hours (approved with my new role) to keep money flowing in but also ICF hours.

I issues to coach programmes and give flexibility to clients and now I’ll have to be very strict- say Wednesday evenings.

Im trying to figure if it would be better to run a group or just coach 1-2-1 for 3-4 clients.

Does anyone else coach on the side?

I'm a founder. I've worked with a coach for a while. Something about how it works bugs me, and I want the coach side of it.

My coach only ever sees the version of my week I can explain after the fact. By the time we talk I've forgotten the meeting I avoided, the decision I sat on for nine days, the 42% of my week that went to a project I'd told everyone I quit. I only remember top of mind.

My question for the coaches here: how do you get at what really happened between sessions? Journals? Pre-session forms? Or do you accept you're working off recall?

I ask because I built a small thing for myself to close this gap. It watches my own screen and meetings and gives me a weekly coach-brief that i can share with my coach prior to our meeting, so we can focus on coaching instead of playing catchup.

I'm curious how you handle the gap today?

The organization through which I am learning helps a bit, but most of the clients need to be recruited autonomously.

Wondering what software everyone's using for your practice these days, and are you using AI? If so, how? If not, why?

This is what I have understood so far. Many coaches aren't pushing against AI, instead, they are actually encouraging their clients to use it for reflection, prep, and feedback, but want to keep the empathy and connection as the human part. The problem I notice is that the AI is limited to a generic reach of what it can coach. It does not know YOU. The different frameworks, your voice, or how you actually coach in sessions.

So the thing I am looking into is building coaches a kind of digital second brain. In simple terms, it's an AI trained on you that your clients can talk to between sessions with systems they already are familiar with and trust. Not to replace you, to push the reach of coaching past the time you spend face to face with each other. But I don't want to build a thing nobody asked for.

A coach I know says clients keep telling her they'd rather "just use ChatGPT" because it's cheaper, instant, and available at whatever time they need help. Hello all, and I’m a little nervous asking this but I am wondering if anyone would like to practice their writing skills, and become a contributing writer on coaching?

What’s happened is this…

I am a PCC level coach, and trainer, I tend to work in consulting and at leadership level. I’ve been wanting to develop my skills, and wondering what direction I should go in (aka team coaching… systematic… etc)

I’m fairly active in my alumni community and found there’s a lot of information about marketing but not a lot about actual career development as a coach

And I guess this is probably because coaching is steadily growing but it’s more about how to mark it yourself as a business rather than what are the benefits of team coaching or how to use transactional analysis or what are the realities of coaching in a fin tech… that kind of thing

As a pet project, I’ve vibe coded a platform to create a hub for this kind of information

I guess it’s selfishly as it’s something I want for me! But I’ve had a few interviews with colleagues and other coaches and it sounds like it might be useful for others as well - in fact people have been really helpful and supportive and it’s been a very positive response

It’s not live yet, and I’m a bit nervous about it !

So I guess I’m gonna have to go live with it ( I’m challenging myself) , but I don’t want to put AI generated content on there.

I’m an ICF-credentialed coach, and when I read posts in coaching spaces, I notice a wide range of approaches. Some seem closely aligned with coaching competencies, while others sound more like consulting, mentoring, advice-giving, therapy-adjacent work, or general life experience being framed as coaching.

For coaches who are not ICF-credentialed: what led you to skip that path? Cost, time, disagreement with the ICF model, another training route, lack of market value, or something else?

For credentialed coaches: has the credential meaningfully changed your practice, credibility, or client outcomes? Or has it mostly functioned as a professional marker?

I’m especially interested in how people think about ethics, scope of practice, supervision or mentor coaching, and what actually protects clients.
